My feedback and suggestions regarding power level and the portal
Power level
The current power grind is too time-consuming for the average D2 player, and it's only a matter of time until people realize that by the time they reach the power cap they will have very little time to get the tier 5 loot before being reset back to 200. I think this might cause a catastrophic drop in concurrent player counts later down the line.
It does get one thing right, and that is allowing all players to get the best in-game loot by upgrading account-wide stats. I fully believe that all players, regardless of skill, should have access to all in-game gear, and the current system accomplishes that. The catch is that instead of skill, now it's time investment that limits what loot people have access too.
From what I gathered, the current system offers the same progression pace as the soft cap grind from previous DLCs until 200 power, then hard cap pace until 400, and then pinnacle cap until 450.
I would argue that the 200 to 400 power grind is pointless because it was required in order to unlock higher difficulties that award higher tier loot while still forcing (unenjoyable) power deltas onto the players who are looking to consistently grind for power to get that tier 5 loot.
Everyone wants to be able to get tier 5 loot right now, and having to wait until next season because of the power cap lockout just doesn't make sense.
I propose the following system:
The 200 soft power cap remains unchanged, that means that it's a one and done grind for new accounts, and it would serve as a deterrent for Trials cheaters. All loot until 200 power would drop at tier 1. The new pinnacle cap would be 250, and the grind from 200 to 250 would be entirely optional, serving as a way to eliminate the power deltas from all portal activities. Then, the loot would drop based on the activity power:
- 201-210 power (bronze): tier 2 (chance, guaranteed by getting rank A score)
- 211-220 power (silver): tier 3 (chance, ...), tiers <3 guaranteed based on score
- 221-230 power (gold): tier 4 (chance, ...), tiers <4 guaranteed ...
- 231-240 power (platinum): tier 5 (chance, ...), tiers <5 guaranteed ...
- 241-250 power (diamond): tier 5 (guaranteed at rank B and above).
Activity power would be increased only by the selected modifiers, as in there wouldn't be any separate power based difficulty tiers like advanced, expert, master, grandmaster, or ultimate. Basically, activity power can only be increased by 10 or 20 using banes, and tradeoffs would decrease activity power by 5, while boons would decrease activity power by 10. This would mean that farming tier 5 loot would require the players to select 5 banes, and a maximum of 1 boon and 1 tradeoff simultaneously, while achieving rank A. Also, there should be a section that allows players to manually power cap themselves in case they want to retain some level of difficulty through power deltas. This power cap would further increase activity score multipliers, just like the locked loadout, no HUD, and no starting ammo modifiers do right now, helping them reach rank A score a bit easier.
Additionally, the power grind from 200 to 250 should be doable within 25 hours, or 10 weeks of claiming weekly vendor rewards.

Players are spamming Caldera and K1 Logistics solo ops to reach 400 power right now, which makes the grind stale and the activities boring. My solution to this problem is to have two bonus drops for each type of activity (2 for solo ops, 2 for fireteam ops, and so on). One bonus drop would be permanently active on the quickplay node, and the other would be on another random activity within that category. If a player completes the same activity multiple times in a row other than the one chosen by the bonus drop, then the bonus drop increases up to a maximum of 3 bonus drops on a single activity. Also, the bonus drop activity should serve as a bright dust farm too. Completing a non-quickplay bonus drop activity would move the bonus drop to another activity within that same category.

Okay, that was a lot of info, but hopefully you guys find it useful. Thanks for reading, take care!
