This all started with the 9.0.0.4 update.
I am getting constant crashes during game play in a variety of activities. At first it seemed like it was only happening in Onslaught since I went back in after crashing and it crashed during onslaught again.
Since those repeated crashes I have experienced crashes in a variety of single and multiplayer activities, everything from crucible to solo ops and fireteam ops.
No error code just a hard freeze and then crash.
Game freezes completely, then closes after a few seconds (at most 5 seconds).
So far I haven't noticed this happening after a specific length of play time. Sometimes I can play for an hour without a crash, some times it's after 2 or 3 minutes in my first activity after starting up.
I'm not experiencing crashes in any other games, I've tried cpu intensive games as well as GPU intensive games. So far only Destiny 2 is crashing.
Things I've tried:
Limiting the game to 90fps
Limiting the game to 60fps
Limiting the game to 30fps
Fresh install via Steam
Verifying game files via Steam
Fresh install via the Xbox App
Verifying game files via Xbox App
Adjusting video settings despite both of my GPUs being more than capable of running at the settings I've been using since I started playing.
Swapping from an Nvidia 50 series card to an Intel Arc B580

Dealing with constant crashes on PC - old
Has anyone seen anyone with a 14th gen intel having issues? I could swap to a 14600k but it would be a pain and I'd rather not do it if we know that also can have problems. -
Thanks for reporting. The team is already aware of this issue and it is now being investigated.

Anyone here by chance using steel series gg app? Could be pure coincidence but I disabled moments and clipping/capture and I haven’t crashed since. I could probably give it more time to validate, but I was literally crashing on every single solo op or fireteam op.

Edited by Interstellar Foxy™: 8/3/2025 2:25:12 AMI went through your Dxdiag to see what we have in common and we both have ultra intel CPU's, z890 motherboards, and the same reason for the crash BEX64 which is buffer overflow. What is really interesting to me is I can do crucible fairly stably (played all day yesterday without problem) but I will crash in minutes in the Wyvern boss in Deseret Perpetual. dxdiag: https://pastebin.com/X7jGENUM Edit: Swapped to Ryzen 9800X 3D and B850 Motherboard Problem seems to have been solved by that so it very much is at least an Intel problem.

Edited by Lumi: 8/1/2025 2:08:47 AMHi all take this with a grain of salt as I have been using this fix for the past hour and a bit - Temporary workaround: Could be pure luck but I disabled the intelapo service - I have seen this cause issues with anti-cheats in the past. Especially EAC (I am aware D2 uses battleye but figured I'd give it a shot). You can do this by going to powershell and running "sc stop intelapo" without the quotes. If you reboot you'll need to run it again. I had been crashing after each activity before I did this and I have been able to complete a couple over the hour since I did this. It seems to be the Ultra 200 series that has this issue.
