Just logged int to try arms week… requires guardian rank 5 after the first engram. Can’t play. Turned PC off…
I’m not sure if they want players to do this?

It’s too bad Destiny 2 is one of a kind. If there was a game that played just like it to the tea (gameplay wise) I’d be playing that. Until then… pew pew
-
But yes, they want to end destiny 2 I believe so they can focus on there next BIG “accomplishment” MARATHON
-
They knew the numbers would be horrible for this expansion, so they used their big brains to figure out that they can just gate everything that people actually want to do by making you play the campaign first, making you level up first... all while telling you power level doesn't matter. It's pure, evil, psychology. They're gaslighting us, non-stop. On the plus side for you, I turned the game off after the first match since exploiters are running around using abilities while abilities are turned off and Bungie is looking the other way, just like they're doing with the Raid cheaters.

Slingshot says it. "Rank Gating" Bungie, "This gives us an idea!" "1. Content can now be played only if you have attained Rank 8, which of course, is unobtainable because you can't play unless you are Rank 8, which, or course, is unobtainable .... 2. Time Gating is now improved, from 5 minutes to 5 seconds. Which doesn't matter anyway, because see 1. 3. Only new gear can be used in content. Which doesn't matter anyway, because see 1. 4. Only players with Power level of 306 can play content. Which doesn't matter anyway, because see 1." "How do you think the players will like that?" "They'll think it's great! No more Time gating, or New gating, or Power Level gating." "What about the Rank gating?" "Oh they'll get over it."
-
It’s just one asinine decision after another.
-
Bungie is just pushing engagement and microtransactions and calling it fun. NOT!
-
I think that might actually refer to Event Rank but it's certainly not clear.
-
It’s an odd strategy. Push the players that paid for the game away. Dare I say, “stupid”, or is it that I just don’t understand them?
-
since guardian ranks were just reset, most players are prolly under 5. i am. i predicted this would be a disappointing trash event, not because i'm psychic. they just keep doing stuff like this, remember dupe palooza? "arms week" is just two weapons with mid perk pools to bleed for. total waste of time, especially with volatile, expiring mods.
-
Wow, I did a few challenges last night and cashed in 1 engram for a specific gun and was planning to continue today, but I just checked ada and you are right it now says rank 5. I am nowhere near that, we only got knocked down in power and rank a few weeks back and rank 5 requires 200 power. This is crazy, it's a 1 week event close to dlc launch and they do this? It's a big fat NO for me. 🤬
-
Yes. You can't get the Sharpshooter Title for Arms Week unless you pay Silver for at least one Rank. Even if you log in and do all three Challenges every day, you'll still be short. They're not even trying to hide how much Bungie wants to push their players.

Saw that too. And even more egregious is that the rewards are tied to your fake Rank. The Rank system in Destiny means absolutely nothing. It is simply a way for streamers and folks with friends who play Destiny to have special privileges. Has literally nothing to do with how well you are as a player at all. It’s tied to your ability to have 5 friends willing to play Destiny with you. For the record all my friends in real life think I’m crazy and laugh at me for still playing Destiny. They quit playing D1 first year because of how much the game lied about what you could do in it. I remember giving my friends a speech as they went on to Halo and CoD about how I “trust” Bungie and have faith in Destiny. Now I’m playing this game by myself, cause there’s no matchmaking options, and am soft locked from even getting gear cause I don’t have a Fireteam to increase my artificial Rank. 🤣
-
What l like about this season ....... umm I'll get back with ya.
-
Yes and no,the grind was made worse to create a larger active player number but the game just got even worse,we’ve reached the lowest player count ever I think.
-
I'm sure you only need to be rank 5 to get a chance at the shiny varients. Still a bit silly though.
-
Rank-gating an event… Thats a new one.
-
100% agreed. These events should be opened to every player despite their guardian rank, as they've always been before. And to add insult to injury, the focused weapons of the event don't have the new weapons system. There's no reason to get them, not even to unlock their patterns since there's no way to get deepsight harmonizers. So yes, Bungie is actively making players not play their game. Maybe that's why since the launch week of EoF, active player numbers dropped almost 50% on Steam.

Edited by Omega: 7/30/2025 11:48:25 AMyes! game is being left by more and more players it feels like. I do wish people wouldn't slave away at this and play something they'd enjoy. if you still enjoy D2 that's fine, but if you're not please consider picking up something else ASAP :)
-
Man people never played D1 and it shows, the only thing I don’t agree with is seasonal level. Everything else I’ve been enjoying.
Just logged int to try arms week… requires guardian rank 5 after the first engram. Can’t play. Turned PC off… I’m not sure if they want players to do this?
I ran it just fine. You casually get to rank 5 by playing an hour or two every other day. Not that hard…

Cant sell Marathon if Destiny is still alive now can they.
-
Honestly since Sony now has control, I think the bungie leadership is actively trying to run the game into the ground while they wait out their contracts. Then they will abandon ship and leave Sony as well as the Devs to clean up the mess or cancel the game.
-
Certain players...yes!!
-
-
Don’t know if I agree or not, since Bungie has to keep higher rank requirements a secret.
