Coming from 8k hours logged play time; I've put in grind before, I've played through the droughts, I've found things to enjoy beyond normal gameplay (trio raids, sparrow tech, etc)... But this? The power grind might be what breaks me.
The power grind is hopelessly irrelevant. It was tolerable before, but this iteration is by far the worst. It doesn't matter that we can "grind what you want for as long as you want" when the grind is soulless, arbitrary, and completely meaningless as we are just power capped anyway.
Gating the best that the game has to offer behind a forced and meaningless time investment does not inspire joy. Oh, and then enforcing a power delta once you get there completely invalidating the arbitrary number. Make it make sense Bungie, because it hasn't for years now. Just hard commit to curated difficulty (hidden power deltas) and get rid of the useless number already. That's how the majority of the game already plays anyway. If it must stay, reduce the barriers to enjoying your game by jacking up the rate we can power level through ALL power bands.
Side note: the removal/lack of raid and dungeon content as part of the power grind is honestly the most insulting part of this change. And no, adding single encounters to the portal will not alleviate this issue.
Bungie, I'm not asking for change tomorrow. I only ask that you reconsider the power system internally and addresses the overwhelming concern. Your community is not stoked and you do not have the luxury to sit on your hands to wait and see how the dust settles. The community will continue to hemorrhage if communication lags.

So glad people are finally noticing how irrelevant power is. Took a little bit, but we’re here now.
-
The coldest part about the power grind is that the power doesn’t mean jack squat! Somehow you will still be under power. THEN… It drops back down to 200 in Renegades. Like what’s really happening here!?
-
I’m beginning to think this is intentional and they want to see who breaks.
-
It’s not enough that we buy the expansions anymore. Now we have to play OLD content for hundreds of hours just to be able to actually play the game and get the best loot. It’s insulting to our intelligence that they thought we’d be okay with this.
-
I'm only grinding out the season pass levels, whatever I get to past level 200 is what I get to, not going out my way to get up to 300, hopefully bungie will see sense in the future if they want to keep this game alive
-
This is exactly how I’ve been feeling. I don’t mind the stat changes, ammo changes, or even weapon tiers (despite my belief the system needs reworking), but the leveling system puts a massive drag on my desire to play. It exacerbates all of the flaws with the tiering system and therefore gatekeeps nearly everything positive about the stat changes. After hitting 200, your pace slows to a crawl.
-
On the bright side we all agree with you, this is the most united the community has been on a change that I have literally ever seen, the system wont be walked back entirely but I could see a huge overhaul in time for ash and iron
-
They replaced the time gate with the grind gate.

Edited by DamoclesLore: 7/28/2025 11:57:47 PMYeah, I actually like grinding, but this type of grinding is just mind-numbingly slow. I mean, if bungie could increase the drops from what it currently is then I would definitely be more eager to sit 12 hours of rehashing Groundhog Day missions. The leveling is just too grueling to be justified for the drop system bungie currently has in place. And then, several grey hairs later, when/if I reach near 400 level, the best high tiered drop chance is even less than it was before?? And come next episode, I have to start grinding from 200 again??? I mean. It’s daunting. My brother, who’s disabled and wheelchair bound, is even more frustrated than I am with this perpetual grind!!! That’s saying something. I love this game so much. Use to be (hopefully will still be?) one of my favorite reprieves from my stressful life as a nurse. I know bungie still needs to iron things out, but please, I hope to make it out of Bill Murray’s groundhog nightmare to an exciting Destiny future. Not giving up, just hoping for some meaningful change.

In there video they did, they said they would listen to the feedback. l haven't seen one thing in the update notes about fixing anything about the tard grind. it's so boring and then you get very little .once you hit 260's they give bare bone in the portal . it's such a broken system it can't be working right.nobody going to play this long . that company is really reaching now. not to mention how unhealthy that grind is. I'm surprised there not getting sued yet
-
you don't want to grind -50 missions for a chance at a t3 drop?
-
Bungie don't read this forum. They don't even have a moderator any more.
-
Just sit it out for a little while as I am sure there will be changes. No need to quit, just leave your character at the level it is and maybe play some other games in your backlog to bide time and just jump in every now and then.
-
I just played through Starcrossed solo, with modifiers that stated if I got an A, I'd get gear a few levels higher than me. I did, one piece, but the other four were all 10 levels lower. What kinda nonsense is this? I'm with you, this is gonna make me delete this game very soon.

Yeah nobody likes it like the most effective way to level up is to do lost sectors on harder differences and to just speed run it.. Streamers would enjoy those not regular players who just want to play the game and enjoy it this concept is not just for casuals that's for any player even hardcore players. There are even streamers who are coming forward and saying they don't like the progression they are saying that from 300 to 350 the progression is slower the rewards are terrible and that they want the game to be that if you play on harder difficulties with negative modifiers where the content is almost like 50 levels above you and you're trying to solo it like literally the rewards should be dropping 6 drops not one drop... That has always been the problem with destiny 2 since shadow keep they increase the challenges but they don't improve the rewards... That's why people refer to the current progression as you being a hamster in a hamster wheel. Also I know people who are 350 right now would argue that what I say here is incorrect yeah they would say that because they abused Encore. Most people who hit 400 by now they used the Encore glitch because just remember bungie took almost 5 days to fix it if someone grinded 5 day straight in encore everyday yeah anybody would hit 400 because just remember people were getting plus 10 drops as 6 to 7 drops...

cant get the bonus for the conduit mission. i fininished in the time given but i guess i did not do good enough? what a waste of time. if you complete the mission you should get the bonus or you really wont rank up. i can get b's and a's in crucible easier than failing so many pve missions. i thought if you finished in the amount of time you get the bonus. does anyone know what keeps you from getting b? if you die too much does that lower your grade? i fail most pve timers and missions!!! i am entitled i paid for the game. i finish the missions but no grade of b it was a quickplay.

Edited by Killapete232: 7/28/2025 2:22:58 AMI'll be honest in final shape you would get a full set of armor for every character to be close enough to get to the pinnacle grind after legendary campaign. In egde of Fate you get to 200, and get no power progression at all for completion of All Fabled and Mythic missions and latches. If you spent time completing these things the player should be rewarded for doing so in terms of power. After Fabled players should have hit 300 After mythic players should have hit 400 Then we grind portal to hit 450, the conquest respectively during those milestones to help as well. But wtf do I know I'm just a guy playing a video game.
-
Yeah I have another 235 levels to go Grandmaster Conquest ... there needs to be more than run this activity and get a piece of gear +3 ...there needs to be +10/+15 drops. I can't keep playing the same mindless activities... Maybe arms race will have some big power jumps..
-
Play crucible. You will level up super fast. I'm actually enjoying EoF.
-
Just go to 300 and stop. Anything after that just isn't worth it, nor is it enjoyable
-
Don’t worry, it will be changed
-
99% agree other than I’m a new player and because of this im fricking angry with bungie and want them to fix it now I’ve had enough of there -blam!-. Sure some improvements for new players in edge of fate but it’s still a -blam!- show.

Keep farming

After running infinite amounts of Caldera I feel your pain
