Desert Perpetual is a good raid.
The contest experience...absolutely terrible. I have never felt so helpless in a raid. My team had execution down flawlessly, we would get to dps consistently, but almost every single pull the game would apply some out of world debuff to us that would prevent us from clearing. Our portal runner would get the movement speed bug, the detain shield wouldn't parry properly and just kill us all, guns not firing at correct rpm and not hitting for the right numbers, effecting super regen, hardware crashes, interactive items being desynced, etc. The amount of bugs made this unclearable for our team to a point where we gave up, which is the first time I've given up well before the contest period ended.
There is currently a lot of news being passed around from people scraping player data that around 70% of clears were cheated. Which I am not surprised in the slightest since I checked people I ran into on lfgs and 6 out of 7 had cheated.
Bungie you need to address this issue and set an example out of these people. The entire integrity of contest raiding is falling apart at the seams and soon it will be a disheveled mess like crucible is on pc. You are effectively harboring a new era of paid carries for PvE content. If these raids are going to continue to be tuned to be damn near unclearable unless you either cheat or play with a full team of streamers for 40+ hours straight then I simply won't compete anymore. This is starting to incentivize unhealthy practices. The contest raid should be designed to be cleared in 24 hrs NOT 48. This last weekend it felt like I had wasted so much of my time getting prepared for an event that my team may have had a chance if the game decided to work as intended and not stack the deck against us. Demanding perfection from 6 players for 3 phases a boss when the game itself is the farthest thing from perfect is the most ludicrous design philosophy ever. Is it just assumed that every mechanic will work flawless without any bugs?
Whatever testing enviornment these QA people are using, it is not anywhere close to an accurate depiction of all the server load and instabilty problems the game experiences when it is popular for 2 days out of the year. I doubt anyone on their QA team could clear contest facing the bugs my team did while also not being able to use banned weapons that were used in testing the raid(barring bravo who got SE worlds first and had QAed the raid so I'd hope he'd clear it for the emblem). Some of these bugs such as the desync on the final boss when the absolute player is activating were discovered only after 4-5 attempts, and they consistenly occur. I just find it so hard to believe some of these bugs were missed with how consistent they are, only having cleared the raid 5 times at this point of writing and it's been the same bugs EVERY SINGLE RUN. Did the QA team clear the raid one time and say "call it a wrap"? I feel like if I were QA/playtesting these types of things, they would be picked up and noticed fairly quick.
It may be a hot take, and the elitist in my soul hates that I am even suggesting this, but if there was ever a contest raid that deserved an extension due to bugs, it'd be this one. I don't think theres any agrument to be had that the emblem will lose its prestige when it is openly known that 70% of people with it just cheated for it anyways.

Just to be fair. Two days ago, "dmg 04" already said on X, "Teams working to get 'em out." Cheating in an official contest is bad... but seeing the naivety of those who did and how, in such a scenario, is "frightening."

Edited by Cheat: 7/25/2025 9:17:12 PMThe cheaters need to be banned and the carries should have the emblem stripped and issued a temporary 30 day ban. Minimum. I'm absolutely sure most of the non-cheater carries knew what was going on and risked it anyway, but I'm also sure there were a few that were surprised. Don't perma ban them; better to give people the benefit of the doubt. Give the non-cheaters a 30 day time out and remove the emblem from their account. Edit: and I'm only talking about non-cheat carries who got the clear of the final boss. Obviously if they participated in all encounters with a cheater they should get a permaban too, cuz they obviously knew what was going on if 4 bosses in a row folded over in a one phase.

Even funnier because I can guarantee there would've been less cheaters at launch if the raid wasn't a mess. Nobody wants to sit through a raid that's 98% drawn out mechanic circle jerk, and 2% combat. Ouch. Leviathan really was a great raid when you compare it to what we have now.
-
We definitely deserve a re-release of contest. This was a horrible illegitimate contest raid
-
They should never do a contest raid like this ever again. Truly awful.
-
Bump They actively trying to bury this post. Bungo gona Bungo and the Ninjas lick their boots.
-
And only people that are in raged are youtubers, but when someone cheats on pvp, they make one video, and then they forget about it , but when they get beaten in pve they are in rage mode I say f them all its their fault they wanted content tobe harder bungie than that and they still cant finish it shows that the biggest issue in destiny 2 are youtubers since bungie keeps listening to them
-
This should be worked on instead of nerfing every weapon the norm use
-
And if we are talking about cheating, remember destiny 1 crota cheese and vex raid had few cheeses, yet those youtubers promoted those videos how to cheese raid ect who's at fault your favourite youtubers no wonder people turn to carry even youtubers do carries BUNGIE NEEDS TO STOP LISTENING TO YOUTUBERS
-
Imagine YouTube content creators and Twitch streamers crying that the game’s too easy. Complaining that too many people cleared a raid during contest mode. Demanding that Bungie raises difficulty D2 overall but especially for raid contest mode. Raid is so hard that load swapping and most powerful weapons in the game barely dents bosses. What a surprise 😮 people cheated!
-
Contest should go back 24 hours (on a Saturday) and be pushed to the second weekend to allow more time for bug ID/fixes. More prep/grind time. Tighter window. Time for a hotfix or two. So much better. That being said, if there is that many bugs, they should have 100% delayed it.
-
Maybe if Bungie actually paid attention to activity during Contest Mode, instead of baking a content creator a cake or laughing as other creators lost their soul after failing DPS,, they would have caught this. This entire Contest Mode was such a disaster.

Very well written. Unfortunately we wont get back the time we insvested in preparing, finding people for our teams, and making time by moving rl responsibilities around (ppl changing workshifts, taking time off, etc). The bugs were -blam!-, ppl spent half the time going back to orbit and restarting the raid. There was no fairness, no chance, no day1 race. Only sabotage by not testing the quality of the content. Cant even consider it as challenging when there are a huge amount of bugs that make the content literally unplayable. I just hope that there will be some sort of compensation for this dumpster fire fest instead of a lame post that promises that things will get better.

As a long time raider with numerous day one attempts bungie really drop the ball on this one glitch's bugs and now notice of 70% possibilities cheating on day one just for the flex bungie come on you need to get a handle on this before it destroy the reputation that beating a day one give for the teams who beat it legitimately.

Edited by The-IIID-Emp1r3: 7/26/2025 2:29:13 AMRemember when Destiny just worked as intended (as best it could be)? We've had more bugs in D2 than D1 had in it's whole lifetime. What happened? Even the D2 open beta, as limited as it was in content, was pretty flawless and bug free despite the beta build being older than the golden master build of the games release. I think what bungie needs to do is go back to a plain vanilla build of D2 and slowly re-implement all the content we currently have, that would cut down on the old spaghet code or assets etc still lingering in the game that may have been forgotten about after having been semi removed or moved out of bounds away from plain view of the player Go to Volundr forge for example and go in the bottom left cave (iykyk), that BlackArmory box is STILL there, why? Another funny thing, they reused the area of one of the forges on Nessus and those 3 floating balls still hover around (only encountered it once so far), those used to be for iirc increased Forge rewards back then or i think for the socketable weapon mod that gave the guns a cool visual effect (been so long i don't remember), but now they do nothing except give a message in the bottom left that there are more

Edited by Magiscene: 7/26/2025 1:20:35 PMThey really need to invest in QA. I didn’t do contest but from what I saw contest was so buggy that the players should get paid for being qa testers lol. IMO this contest shouldnt be rerun. Yeah it sucks it was buggy, cheaters, and possibly overturned but it had its time to shine. Rerunning it would just be a slap in the face to people that overcame the challenge fairly. I doubt bungie will even run it back like sundered doctrine (PlayStation server outage during that contest run) since there wasn’t anything preventing people from actually entering the mode.

There are not cheaters in this game, that’s a lie! All those people not taking damage and flying around with infinite supers are just using pure skills. If there were cheating, BUNGIE would have banned them a long time ago. 🤣🤣😆😆😆
-
Meanwhile, over at Marathon…🤫 Suggestion: anyone pinged in that cheater list has to serve 90days in Marathon, starting from asap, and must remain there until they’ve actually logged 90 days in game…from the launch date, whenever that may be?! 😱 Also, they all get a special, indelible ‘I CHEATED!’ emblem - that is permanently affixed, and an exclusive opportunity to get the ‘I CHEATED!’ T-shirt and special Cheaters Belt - from the Bungie Store…with 50% of sales revenue going to Charity! 👻 That is all. Play Fair! Don’t Cheat! Carry On. 👈 Ease Springs! 🫡

It's not the elitists that cheat.. it's the bro boys trying to get their hands on raid weapons.. the same ones that cheat in PVP. -
Stop blaming QA and blame the board and executives who made the decision to eliminate people and entire teams, which included security and QA. You'll sound a lot less stupid.
-
Removed someone from our clan due to him paying for a contest clears and the person cheating for the clear on his account. Bungie should permanently ban all these accounts, make a stance and make an example of these people
-
You can’t blame the QA team only one person is left and then it sent to a 3rd party to test so they don’t know the game blame the upper management and board of directors and the ceo

Use stasis weapons and be radiant

Edited by Zoidberg: 7/25/2025 4:39:09 PMI concur. They need a second contest weekend with proper scaling and no bugs. Lock the loadouts on encounter activation if swapping is too powerful.
