It’s such a shame because this narrative with the Nine is genuinely so strong. I do truly believe it could have been its own game and would have worked. Dream scenario?
*Truly updated textures and visuals
*A more open and expansive over-world experience- I’m talking true world bosses, dynamic events, characters and quests scattered across bigger less confined maps
*A more fleshed out social mmo aspect. Trading, true crafting, housing, an overhaul to factions and guilds
*An even further fleshed out armor system. A full rework of mods to be less binary a more dynamic in combination and utility. Even more set bounces (I LOVED this change and have been hoping for it) stuff that ranges to support for early game players all the way to true end game sets to grind for.
*Finally a FULL overhaul of abilities. Something on par with all other mmo’s. We need skill lines for all the subclasses with dedicated functions that we can mix and watch.

I too have long wanted a D3 over more D2 but i'm a pvp player who hated sunsetting and needed new pvp maps long before they added some last year. I'm someone that stopped buying expansions around Forsaken and only got Beyond light a year late on sale with a sony discount. BUT: I do think what we have now is what we might have had in D3. All that said a D3 would necessarily come with other things i would want more like 10 new pvp maps, 10 new strikes, probably at least 3 new planets to explore which is something i love. 5 new patrol zones, and probalby unlockables like "find 50 dead ghosts", lots of mini games like all the ones on the original Dreadnaught, etc. So i still think D3 would have been more of what i want. Again, a lot of it would still look like what we have though i suspect.
