Did you go with anybody? If not, solo trips are a slept-on activity. I feel like people assume that if you want to do [i]anything[/i] that's over a 30 minute drive away, you are required by the Laws of Society and Etiquette to have at least one or more companions. And as much as I like hanging out with buddies, it's hard to find a more liberating experience than taking a little vacation all by yourself. There's no deliberation or disagreements or "where should we eat" or any of that nonsense, and you can let your feet take you wherever you want. A big ol' flight might be a bit much for some people, but I'd highly recommend wandering around a local festival. I've been to a few renfaires solo, and it's pretty fun. How did you find it?
