Please tell me I'm not the only one that thinks this. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.
Like, wasn't Solo Ops advertised to us as something different? Not these... fake Lost Sectors?
And Fireteam Ops... why is matchmaking disabled, and why is trying to enable it like trying to do rocket science?
And these "trainings," really? A seven step training not-"quest" for making a custom difficulty, when every other tutorial has been three sentences long?
This is supposed to be... better? Than the ritual playlists and directory?
Like, I know that Bungie is notorious for making expansions/changes that are either "WE'RE SO BACK!" or "IT'S SO OVER," with nothing in between. We all know this. It's nothing new. But man, I didn't think they'd hit rock bottom so soon after launch. You'd think they'd learn after all their mistakes to not fix something that isn't broken.
The Portal feels so lifeless. Nothing feels fun or rewarding anymore, and the new tier system for gear is not worth the hassle at all. This expansion had so much potential, and the result is a dumpster fire. Whoever tried to push these UI and gameplay changes off as "quality of life improvements,"... who hurt you? Did the Witness hurt your feelings? Did Lodi steal your wife? Like, what the heck happened my dudes?
This isn't even Destiny 2 anymore. This is what Destiny 3 could have been, yet we're stuck with Destiny 2-million-steps-in-the-complete-opposite-direction.
Like, wasn't Solo Ops advertised to us as something different? Not these... fake Lost Sectors?
Because the non-Quickplay Activities listed under Fireteam Ops allow players to go in either as Solo or in Duos without Matchmaking active, this gives the community what they have been requesting for a long time: a way to play through Strikes without other players so they can focus on completing Quests/Bounties without having to fight for kills against randos. This essentially fulfills what many players had in mind when the Solo Ops option was first described by the devs. And Fireteam Ops... why is matchmaking disabled, and why is trying to enable it like trying to do rocket science? The Fireteam Ops menu has mandatory Matchmaking for the Quickplay options listed in the top row, as well as having it turned on by default for those Activities that offer Bonus Focus rewards. The remainder of the Fireteam Ops Activity selection, which does not offer Bonus Focus rewards, also lacks Matchmaking. The combination of these two factors is likely intended to funnel players toward a limited subset specific Activities in order to keep the queues healthy with limited wait times. Offering specific/improved rewards and Matchmaking for all listed Fireteams Ops Activities at all times on the other hand may run the risk of further stratifying the player base between Activities, leading to slower overall queue speeds.
