Joe Blackburn and his team refined the game based on community feedback and TFS was great. The grind / leveling in TFS was fun. He left the game in a great state compared to this. This new director came and and undid everything Joe and his team did to make the game great. This game is a boring slog now. Power leveling sucks, I can't even just chill in Crucible like I did all last year because I'd have to grind 100s of hours in lost sectors/exotic missions just to earn competitive armor. Think I'm exaggerating? Diffizle ran the same solo mission for 14 hours straight. This is his income. The live-service community aspect sucks, are there even other players playing the game? I can't tell on Keplar or Portal activities. Does Sony have any live service experts they can bring in to help Bungie? The director might be a nice guy but his vision for the game is the opposite of anything I want to engage with.

And that was still awful but this is next level bad

Sometimes you gotta take what was working just fine, that you spent years fixing, tear it all down, and start from scratch!
-
Agree 100%… hate the grind hate the new system…
-
100%. Bungie what happened?
-
WAY better!!!! This is absolutely going into "cash out" mode and milk the free to play audience. Even rerolls of guns/armour for SILVER is coming soon No kidding....

I was actually enjoying the state of the game for once before eof it felt perfect to me Issa shame
-
While i think the dlc itself is overhated, i agree. All the changes they made I really don't like.

Yeah the game was actually good. The removal of crafting hurt player numbers and retention, bad stories and lackluster seasons. But even then the game was fun. I was considering coming back to get the spire of stars flawless emblem I almost got before. To collect more emblems. My favorite is ghost of the deep cause its oryx theme and I love that it looks like a moth. But I digress. The game was perfect before. It really was, and that far down the line there was no need for a power reset or armor reset or stat reset. Destiny 2 is effectively a different game overnight. It’s no longer destiny 2 at heat anymore. It’s destiny 3 without saying it is. They should have taken 3 years and used eof as base destiny 3. New saga and all but leave destiny 2 alone. Also bring back all the DCV to destiny 2. Then destiny 2 would have been complete in all its mystery and wonder. Instead we have a hollowed out tree, ready to fall. A husk of its former self. Sad really. I truly did love this game, got a lot of hard challenges done. Sad to see it change so much.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 7/24/2025 3:19:46 PMRecent player counts agree. No idea who these changes were aimed at if not streamers, which is not enough to sustain the game. Wonder who the first streamer to admit this was a bad direction for the game will be.

If they just shipped edge of fate without the other things they’ve done I may of been more interested in purchasing it, at the moment Bungie has reset my interest in the game.
-
Agreed. What were they thinking not updating old content? What I mean is why did they create this new tiers of loot but not apply it across the board? Why am I doing sundered doctrine and getting stuff in the old system. It doesn’t make sense. I understand no set bonus on armor. But at least make them tiered? Next thing is why are the old dungeons and old “hard” content always negative on light level? What’s the point on getting a high light level then? I understand if you’re doing master level content needing to be hard but standard level content, no that’s ridiculous.

The game being in this state should be an actual emergency at Bungie, but you know instead they're working an some we're listening", "*tuning*", "not where we want it to be" bullshit. They should roll this entire expansion back, put the game on hold and start over. They won't though. The cars must flow.

Edited by Klaus_Reaper (Adept): 7/24/2025 6:25:25 PMThey wanna kill the game, since you guys can't stop playing at your own, so they decide to make the game trash, but still you guys paying for it (free 2 play) players I'm counting out, but paying for this mess..come on guys.

Completely agree

I think the game did need a shakeup with the new systems, but they didnt stick the landing. With time I imagine they will get better. I had nothing to do on the game two weeks ago so I guess I am glad that there is at least stuff to chase now. I honestly am enticed by the high tier armour and weapons and the challenging feats in the new (amazing) raid. I just did not think I would have to power grind to eternity using old activities first which sucks. And yeah the game has so many bugs right now

Edited by Magiscene: 7/24/2025 12:24:45 PMThe only benefit is most of our options of grinding are organized into a single screen which is nice but I do wish raids and dungeons were in that screen too. Oh well but other than that yeah game feels like a hamster wheel now

Edited by Dooodley: 7/24/2025 4:46:34 PMI can honestly not think of a single improvement with EOF. Sure, there has been some cool things such as new weapons and cutscenes but those are expected with any expansion. As a whole it has just made the game more dull and feel more pointless. We used to be able to build upon what we had, now we're supposed to grind even more for things that will be rendered moot in a few months - and we're supposed to do it in old or tweaked old content. What's the grind even for? So that we can run the same campaign we just ran but on a higher difficulty with rewards that are going to be worse than the things we have? I heard someone say "Destiny players don't want to grind, they want to farm" and there's very little of farming at the moment. Everything is just a grind for infusion items and most of us will probably never get past that stage before the next update - seeing how utterly boring it is to play at the moment. Edit; Actually, there is one improvement but people probably don't even know about this because I've never seen it advertised and they've made it so that the old map is hidden away in the background. That thing is that there are now daily lost sectors active on every old planet and from my runs I'd say that the exotic engram drop rate is 100 %. So it's a good opportunity to catch up on missed trophies and get exotics for infusion. I don't know if the exotic engrams cap out at any power but I've had them drop at 227. They also drop legendary items but only up to power 200.

Edited by Northern: 7/24/2025 9:23:07 AMEoF is change for the sake of change. Raid aside it adds no new content after you complete the campaign.

What’s EFO?
-
Disagree. Pre was old and boring.
-
Amen. It was the version of the game that got me to actually get PS+ and try playing a game with other people.
-
It's still fun to me, and it's definitely not as bad as the typical comments on this forum make it out to be. All I'm saying.
-
Ehhhh debatable

One step backward and two forward

I look at it as a foundation building expansion like Shadowkeep and Beyond Light. Remember what Witch Queens crafting system started out as? With all these core gameplay stuff out of the way, maybe they can work on some new Darkness supers or maybe even a new Subclass, and yes, I'm coping hard.
