After trying the new raid and how it is designed to allow players to choose their path through it. I highly agree some adjustments must be made to circumvent issues when needing to find a player halfway through it. In my run trying to go in and learn the wyvern encounter, a player left and I tried to find a player to fill a spot, upon doing so there was no way to indicate I was on that specific encounter. This is very problematic for teams who try to progress and when a player leaves it becomes a hurdle for the rest of the team and time constraints. Imo if you plan on doing this raid it's best to find players with adequate time commitment, otherwise it may wind up being a headache when needing to find players to fill spots for whatever encounter they are on. If Bungie could implement a way to indicate which encounter in specific or allow players to post for that specific, then FTF would be a lot better. If Bungie devs read this please look into adjustments to FTF for these issues with how it's designed around this particular raid. I dig the design of no linear pathing for the raid but your FTF must be designed to work with it as well.
