I feel the title says it all i believe one of the devs said we'd be able to choose our own way to play yet so far i have seen a fair few seperate occasions that contradict this and are incredibly poor choices for example
The recuperation nerf, yes i'm aware we have the health stat but why are you FORCING people who want to play offensively to invest in the health stat by nerfing the mod? this seems completely backwards and not thought out, the mod was a solid staple for builds that required survivability and wasn't too big an investment so we were STILL ABLE TO BUILD OFFENSIVELY, and now you're forcing us into a stat where we'd need to change our builds out of more offensively to have some survivability all for the sake of what exactly?
Another example is forcing the melee stat especially on hunters, not having a full melee regeneration from out gamblers dodge which has been another staple of the game and required for builds that weren't even melee focused so again, you're forcing NON melee builds to have to build into something they dont want to and sacrificing an element/stat in there build to get back to something they had by default before? why?
People were tired of stat requirements and wanted more build flexibility in order to be able to craft new fun interesting and innovative builds thats what would have made this game more interesting and fun and what inherently keeps this game going....and you guys completely backended it and did the opposite.
its hard enough with no new fragments or supers or abilities to actually be able to build into or incorporate into the builds, i mean exotic weapons do not sustain builds constantly the same with exotic armor which could have used some more customisation and flexibility with something like exotic armor catalysts for example.
The dev team should be creating MORE ways to create new builds not LESS this seems like a massive step backwards every update with the game coming out.

Edited by Discovery: 7/12/2025 5:14:27 AMYears ago Bungie stated that they want players to play the game as they wanted, yet they force players into a corner where you have to be. It gets worse and worse for every release. I think Bungie is too obsessed with stats, builds, nerfing and balancing all that mess so they forget the core thing they should be working on - making the game fun.

After a few weeks or months of trying and tragically failing to balance the weapon stat they will disable its bonus damage entirely with in PvP. This will be followed by an enviorment where every one MUST run 200 Health. Why? •Increase hp/shield regen by 50%. •Flinch reduction •Damage reduction •Healing when picking up orbs of light. All of this from just one stat. But again this will be the driving force post weapon stat damage bonus being disabled in PvP.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 7/11/2025 5:13:50 PMIt feels like they kind of just… gave up. So many not player friendly changes coming and it feels SO forced. Grind and throttling is now taking priority over facilitating build crafting and encouraging experimentation.

Probably because actually being honest about it would tank the Edge of Fate sales even more. -
I think the unstated goal of the stat rework is to avoid having dump stats. The intent is to penalize players for dumping a stat. The problem is, I think everyone is already aware that Health and Class are dump stats. The Recuperation nerf has to happen because a 1-cost mod provides the same utility as 100 Health (minus 10% flinch resistance, boohoo). Even with the nerf Recuperation still provides more benefit than the 3-cost Font of Health will. Gambler's dodge change has to happen because it would allow Hunters to ignore 0-100 Melee since their melee cooldown would be tied to their dodge, not their Melee stat. It's too late for them to change anything for release, but in my opinion Health and Class need to be reworked into something players actually want to spec into as opposed to removing other utility so we have to spec into them.
