I recently came back to destiny 2 and have basically fully transitioned over to PC. I gave my son, my PS5 and my entire PS5 gaming library. I am trying to unlink my PSN account from bungie.net but it appears that I cannot do that anymore? So if me and my son want to play together, I need to create a new PlayStation account and pay for another online service?

Edited by BNGHelp3: 7/10/2025 12:09:00 PMHey there. That is correct - accounts can no longer be unlinked, due to a policy change which came into effect in March 2025. However, am I right in saying you are playing this account's three existing characters on Steam? PSN is your Active account, it is the origin of your characters, and they are being shared to Steam by cross-save. Each time you play the characters on Steam, you are logging into and making progress on these PSN characters. To want to unlink PSN from your current Bungie setup would have meant losing access to these three characters on Steam. I am assuming that was not what you wanted; were you thinking you could unlink, keep your characters on Steam and your son could have his own characters on the now-unlinked PSN account? That was not ever going to be possible, even before the policy change. The characters are forever locked to that PSN account. So yes, unfortunately - because PSN is still your main account, it is necessary to keep it as-is to allow you to continue letting you use the characters on Steam. Your son would indeed have to play on another PSN account, if you intend to keep these characters.

Unfortunately as of March 25th all linked accounts are now permanent. There is no exceptions to this policy.
