As a Veteran that's been playing this game since the Beta this is my honest opinion how I feel about the future of the game.
Edge of Fate & Renegades will determine me if I stay or go because I want to experience this model to see how it is and so far I don't have much fate in it from what is shown and if I don't like it what I'm seeing it's a goodbye.
I kept buying DLCs because I loved this game but over the years its been doing nothing but going downhill for me because it seems this game hasn't progressed much since beyond light outside giving us new and revamped supers with underwhelming weapons and activities to the point raids and dungeons don't look worth the effort in doing them when their just as good or better weapons somewhere else with less effort especially when you literally grinding the same rolls and perks that are either an improved version or a nerf version of them each season or expansion with the only things making them different is the model and origin trait.
I look forward to the changes to the armor 3.0 but the weapons is a different story all these tiers sounds nice and all and hopefully solve some vault space issues about keeping more then 1 weapon which has been a issue for years but all that's goes down the drain if we keep getting underwhelming weapons with mediocre rolls that we have been getting for the past 5years because the "In to the Light" event actually gave me hope in BUNGIE actually giving us crazy weapon roll but then to walk it back when Final Shape drops was a huge disappointment.
I honestly think after this or the next expansion BUNGIE needs to just stop and do a D3 because this game has been going on for 10years and it's age is catching up to it because theirs way too many issues with this game that's holding it back for current and future players to get into.
That's all for now I have more to say but I rather keep it to myself for now till the expansion drops next month.

I’m not gambling with Destiny or Bungie anymore. EoF looks like very little content and more system upgrades and renegades just looks like they’re out of creativity and are going for a cheap Star Wars cash grab. Been in the same spot you are since D1’s beta. I ain’t pre ordering EoF. I plan on waiting till about mid August and seeing what fanboy and critical reviews say about the direction the franchise is headed and the way the leadership is treating the game. I just don’t trust the current Bungie to produce the Destiny franchise with passion anymore as they’ve really dropped the ball since TWQ.

If you decide to stop playing, what would you pick up instead? Only other loot shooter games are Division 2 and Warframe, neither of which have kept me playing basically every single day, like Destiny 2 has.

I'm interested in seeing armor 3.0 live. I think Melee builds are going to be king. I just made 200 spots in my vault. I think these tier 5 weapons will only matter in PvP. What point is a tier five weapon going to be in PvE unless is its the same or better god roll than you have already. (this feels like when the kept bringing back Hung Jury) (reg, adept, shinny) ** I think crafting should be able to be tier 5 if it's above level 50 and the resources required for upgrades. also been playing since the Beta.

The game has changed on a fundamental level since beyond light with abilities taking a much more present role in gameplay, and buildcrafting having a lot more depth and much higher ceiling. I actually was watching footage from my first trio flawless vog, which was right after it came out in beyond light, just today and it is downright jarring how simple the game was. It was before subclass 3.0 so no trees on light subclasses, and the weapon meta was still just damage perks and matching elements with shields... I was in confluxes using a multimach with one for all and a salvager's salvo for the arc shields and that was a GOOD loadout for the time. That, compared to now, when there are so many status effects and debuffs and damage resist sources and things that recharge your abilities that its impossible to keep track of everything going on at once, the game is completely unrecognizable now. Its not even just on prismatic, even the light subclasses like arc warlock you just blow everything up and dont even know which ability and perk and whatnot is doing what. Weapons are magnitudes stronger, damage perks are trash now and splash perks like destabilizing rounds, kinetic tremors, and incandescant are stronger on primaries now than many special weapons were back in the day. Between abilities and weapons our guardians have gotten much stronger, anyone who has played all of D2 will remember the torment of grandmaster nightfalls in shadowkeep compared to now when they are a complete pushover. Master raids... trying to do the challenges on warpriest and exhibition were insanely hard now they just feel like normal mode. And i really question where your idea that raids and dungeons dont have good weapons comes from, they have some of the strongest weapons in the game right now - Velocity baton: Probably the best utility weapon of all time, allows you to build around always having orbs for cooldowns or armour charges which is absolutely invaluable - Unsworn: Best trace rifle in slot possibly best trace rifle period, being able to apply sever and exhaust on demand is absurd plus shoot to loot - Unvoiced: One of a kind slug shotgun, has two of the best special damage perks in the game (B&S and redirection) and can roll them at the same time. - Chill inhibitor: The best heavy gl in the game period. - Pyroelectric propellant: Super strong, unique, and fun to use primary weapon - Hezen vengeance: Best rocket the game has ever seen. Envious bait is good on everything but timelost magazine making that envious reload give you two rockets... it will take a long time for this to be topped - Praedyth's revenge: Best kinetic 140 sniper which are a meta archetype until further notice, can get like 5 different crazy good rolls with double damage perks Just some examples. These guns never leave my character. Yes they have replacements that hold up just fine but the game would suck if you were FORCED to get these things with no alternatives. If you are a player that enjoys grinding and wants to have the best stuff its there for you.

Everyone stopped reading after the first line. That's all we needed to see.
