Firstly, this is not a “I am quitting Destiny 2” post where I whine about the game.
This is a celebration of 8 years of Destiny 2, a game I have loved even through the quiet seasons.
I have earned 68 Titles (hoping to make Eternal my 69th and final).
At the end of the season, I will be leaving D2, uninstalling the game and will be gone at least a year, but likely permanent - and while I am more than happy to explain why - this is not about that.
Many of you know of me, many of you will not but I have spent a lot of the last 8 years helping Guardians achieve things they didn’t think they could:
- Hundreds of Sherpas of Whisper and Zero Hour
- 207 Flawless Master Presage helps for the “Last Chapter” emblem
- Help on other Exotic missions
- Over 1000 GM Sherpas
- Raid and dungeon Sherpas
- Helped Guardians earn hundreds of titles
On Sunday 13th July I have a final D2 Twitch stream planned, after which I will be playing and streaming other games.
I would love as many of you to be there for my send off as possible and anyone who needs GM help, dungeon teaching or other triumphs (except raids) let me know and I will see what I can do to help you before my Guardian and Ghost retire.
Thank you for the memories and the experiences along the way.
Edit: it is lovely to see how many Guardians remember or recognise me. Thank you - it means a lot.

Your passion and drive to help others in the game will live on.

Hasn't been too long since I joined Insanity Collective, a little more than a yr ago, I had been watching your posts for quite some time before that. You've always been a positive attitude in these salt mines, you've always offered help to everyone. You have hosted a very welcoming community for a lot of people to be part of. My friend, you have given a lot to this community and we all owe you a big thank you. So, THANK YOU!
-
It has been an absolute joy to be a part of your community, I only wish I had joined it sooner. Cannot wait to see what you do next.
-
I'm still really sorry to hear you're moving onto different games Jonty, it's been a joy to game with you. You've helped me and so many others achieve so much in D2, you will be very much missed by many. Maybe not so much by the Gambit community🤣🤣, but certainly the PVE community. Thank you.

Bruv, you’re a damn champ …. Thanks for the many assist these past months after I took a break and we ran through multiple GM back to back …… and breaking some personal speed run GM records at the same time 🤪. Only if folks out there really understand your flow and how you commit to helping rando-blubberies to season vets through various activities in this game. Enjoying the break ……. Well deserved!!!!

I know we have never gamed together, but we have had some good conversations, and the advice you have given has always helped me out. The community is losing one of the few that lends a hand when asked. I wish you the best.

Thank you for all the help you put forth in gilding Conquerers, exotic missions, dungeons and raids. I wish you the best of luck in all your future (gaming) endeavors.

Edited by CookieNiki: 6/20/2025 9:23:38 PMSad to see you leave but that's how life works. Thank you for all the help you gave me in this game since D1. All the best for you.

Good luck in your future and enjoy the games, Jonty. I never made a run with you but from a rather early point in your sherpas I was sending as many people as I could. It was easy to see that you enjoyed the game as much as I did and you had the time to help others. My work ended up keeping me away for a lot of time up until a year or so ago and then my health took a dump on me. I still get on for stretches but what family I have now takes up most of my spare time that I have left. I hope you enjoy good success and make a lot of friends along the way, sir.

Edited by The Hermit IX: 6/20/2025 6:26:53 PMI can only say thanks for the help you given me and countless other guardians. I wish you the best with everything you do. You’re a shining example of the very best of the D2 community and will be truly missed.

Whenever I have spotted your help offered posts they have always been an easy upvote. I have deep reservations about EoF so may well be out the door myself after it launches. Good luck with your future gaming ambitions and thank you for being a force for good within the Destiny community.

As an elderly (and often just about mediocre gamer), I'd like to take time to thank you for the help you've given me over the past few years. It goes without saying that your return to Destiny, whether in a week, month or years time, will see you welcomed back by thousands. Au revoir buddy 🍺

Edited by adamndirtyape: 6/21/2025 6:21:07 AMThanks for being a positive part of the community. I've seen your posts and such over the years. But things come to an end for everyone eventually. I wish you the best. This post resonates because I'm deciding whether to move on for good (I'm on hiatus rigjt now) from Destiny 2. It wouldn't be because I'm bitter or anything. I've always enjoyed it, bugs and all. But I've played it tons, and nowadays, I have limited free time, and I find myself craving other gaming experiences. Who knows, I might come back again. That's why I still check the forums to see what players are thinking lately. But I have to say, I'm totally absorbed by Cyberpunk 2077 lately, and I'm glad I took the time to play it. Borderlands 4 comes out soon and a few other interesting games. So D2 has a lot of competition for my time. Each game that players get absorbed in will have things that make them special, but Destiny 2 stood out from the pack for many years. Even now, in a somewhat diminished state, it can be a powerful gaming experience that others will find hard to match. Be that as it may, people will move on. Better to so that while you're still feeling good about the game, then going with bitterness. Cheers 🍻

Jonty, you're one of the great sherpas of the game and this game will be that much worse for your departure. That said, this will also be my last stand in a game I've come to enjoy over the past 7 years. I've just fallen out of step with it and can't support the leadership at Bungie any longer. I'll make it a point though to come watch your final stream and if lucky, be able to play one last time with you and your helpful clean mates! Eyes-up, Guardian.

Jonty is legit and he's been a good friend please let him help you with anything you need he's does it for free and uses his own time to help buy the way this is johnnie_c4 Jonty i lost a bet and now I have to play as a titan and also change my gt lol :)

Eyes up Guardian. You will be missed.

I never got to play with you, Jonty, thankfully I never needed the help but I always noted your positive presence on this forum. Most users that know you, from what I've seen here, had good things to say and that only serves to glorify your exceptional standing. I wish you the best in whatever your future holds. From one retired Guardian to another, "Eye's up"

See you in the next dlc
-
GGs brother. I hope to see you in greener pastures.

Hey, consider playing borderlands 4! It’s the closest thing to destiny and the new classes look like a ton of fun. The only issues with borderlands is the game selling for a whopping 120$ for super deluxe edition

Edited by Inca Catequil: 6/21/2025 11:45:23 AMJonty28 has made a well earned mark in Destiny...even Google recognizes him Jonty28 is a Destiny 2 streamer and Sherpa known for helping players with endgame content. Jonty28 is recognized for his extensive experience and willingness to help others with activities like Grandmaster Nightfalls, dungeons, and raids. He also helps players acquire titles, exotics, and complete challenging content. This video showcases one of the rarest weapons in Destiny 2, which Jonty28 might have used in his streams: 51s Eternal YouTube · May 8, 2023 Here's a more detailed look at Jonty28's contributions: Sherpa Services: Jonty28 has provided Sherpa services for a wide range of Destiny 2 activities, including dungeons, raids, Grandmaster Nightfalls, and exotic missions. Community Impact: He is highly regarded in the Destiny 2 community for his positive impact and willingness to help players of all skill levels. Recent Farewell: Jonty28 is planning a final Destiny 2 stream on July 13th, after which he will be taking a break from the game. It's sad to see such a old dedicated player leave...but hopefully Bungie will start seeing that they are loosing veterans of the game because it's off track. ....I for one plan to move away from destiny as well and looking to focus my attention to chronos odyssey..if that's a game you will be exploring hopefully I'll get to run into you there...happy trails for now.

Don't know why but as I was skimming over some of the many responses, I found myself wishing I knew how to post links on the forum; for some reason that Michelle Branch song "Goodbye to You" popped into my head.....................is that weird? Seems kind of weird to me...........
-
l don't remember playing with ya . but happy trails . The direction of the game that bungie went down for a few years now, has been getting worse and worse. the next expansion will more then likely just be all grind for things you already had.and the end of destiny anyway.

Happy retirement, mate! Hope to see you back soon. The longer the break, the harder it is to come back. I took a break for about 5 months, played since day 1, and I'm not sure if I want to come back in July. I was looking forward to GTA 6, but that has been delayed.
