What was the point of reworking glaives just to make them useless again in EoF?(Warlock rant)

I seriously don't understand. As a Warlock main, these changes give us no benefit whatsoever, actually the opposite.
We would like Glaives to find a more permanent home in melee-focused builds In short, if your build relies on unpowered melee damage, Glaives will be the best way to increase your unpowered melee DPS even further.
What "Melee focus builds" do Warlocks have compared to the other classes? We have basically ONE meaningful way to increase melee damage output: Winters Guile, and it's already complete dogwater and nobody uses it. Now even more so after the changes, if you could ever believe it. There are no practical builds for us that rely on unpowered melee to my knowledge. With EoF, they're implementing
"Additive melee damage stacking."
But first before we get to that, let's check out the nerfs:
Glaive melee damage in PvE has been adjusted to compensate for their increased access to melee damage-increasing effects Glaive melee damage against minors and majors has been reduced by 40%. Glaive melee damage against Champions and minibosses has been reduced by 28.5%. Glaive melee damage against bosses and vehicles has been reduced by 50%.
Additive damage on top of 50% reduced melee damage means you’d need a 100% damage buff just to deal the same damage you were doing before pre-nerf, you're going to have to 3-chain combo melee just to clear basic ads at this point, and good luck with majors/champions. Glaive attacks are also going to be changed to unpowered melee, which means that you won't be able to proc devour with it, Karnstein builds are going to be slapped down since you need to be able to actually kill things to get your health back, Radiant synergy is also going away because of the conversion of weapon damage to unpowered melee change.
Glaive melee is now considered to be a type of unpowered melee ability. They now receive melee damage increases at full effect in all cases where an unpowered melee ability would, including the damage increases from Synthoceps, Knockout, Offensive Bulwark, Combination Blow, Spark of Feedback, Wormgod Caress, Banner of War, and Stylish Executioner.
I can't help but notice a certain class missing out of all of those. Once again, Warlocks are getting shafted hard on this because they don't know how to properly balance ALL of the classes individually, they'd rather do a blanket nerf even though it's clearly not beneficial all around. Bungie, are you even playing the same game that we are? Or did you ask ChatGPT to write out these balance changes for you? Why are you reworking glaives(again) as if they're the end-all content buster? Even now with how strong some glaive builds can be on other classes, they're a niche pick at best because there are still better options. I loved using glaives, but these changes make me never want to touch them again.

 • This doesn't make any sense.
As part of our melee overhaul, we are revisiting the role of Glaives in the sandbox. We would like Glaives to find a more permanent home in melee-focused builds, where they provide a defensive tool to help you close in on your targets and a faster and more potent unpowered melee ability than Guardians would have otherwise.
Because they are always trying to force us into a 3 melee kill requirement just so they can show off the 3 melee animation. And in pvp this causes a slower kill then what an unpowered melee without the glaive would be. Are they going to speed up the melee speed of glaives? Are they going to make it more powerful and require less hits (unlikely as they like their 3 hit animation)? Are they going to make non glaive unpowered melees take more then 3 hits? None of those are even remotely likely. So why do they make the statement that they did? I understand I'm speaking mostly of pvp here. But also look at the pve damage to red and yellow bars. They are pushing us into the 3 melee animation before a kill there as well.
