Bungie said the Nine help manipulate things to this outcome for their own purposes.
Well besides stopping the final shape, what really changed?
So here’s an idea.
The Valence. The Dark and Light powers reunited.
A phenomenon not seen since probably Creation?
Which their ancient and wise and alien perspective beings might have foreseen to be the true key to their plans?
The Traveler is venting Light and Dark freely into space big time when you watch the sit down scene finale.
Symbolic of it spreading quickly into space, specifically our solar system. The physical home and bodies of the Nine.
Meanwhile in that same scene Crow says they are keeping people away from it. So technically, there’s no info on what it can do to my knowledge.
Boom, insert The Nine’s “master plan” segue angle.
Darkness was always technically free to get, if you could get it. Light never was, the Traveler kept it to itself, had to be almost killed to give it away.
Because it’s dangerous. True immortality and manipulating the forces of reality. The ability to Create.
The thing the Nine have needed. Lorebook Dust showed they were incapable of creating a body of their own with their capabilities.
Their had to make agents, they could manipulate but not create.
The Valence may have boosted the Nine with the Light, the power they’ve been wanting and waiting to use. To truly start creating and find a way for their own goals.
Separating themselves from us, on the edge of all our own fates.
The dimensional bleed on Kepler may factor into more than just time shenanigans. It could be the best physical window for them too, who knows.
But just like the Witness they’ll need time to assimilate it and that’s where we step in as usual.
To kick butt and delay/save the day.

Have you considered that MAYBE Bungie is just pulling sork out of their ads because they don't give 2 crups about lore? That literally none of it matters? At all? And have you considered that you're doing all of this footing speculation because you are starved for a connection? For continuity? Destiny 1 has effectively been retconned. The Red War has been all but erased, and no one's going to remember the Witness in a year or so. The Hive are going to start stuff, again. The Vex are going to start stuff, again. Osiris and Saint are going to hash out their relationship publicly, again. And Crow's going to whine about his past, again. This is how Destiny is going to be going forward, just the same scenarios played again and again on loop. Because the story doesn't matter.
