The definitive final blow to Marathon is Bungie's enormous lack of PVP focus on their flagship game.
They have built up a decade's worth of evidence that they cannot maintain PVP interest and have repeatedly scaled back PVP to the point that it no longer really matters (I'm looking at you, Iron Banner power relevancy) and the overall meh of Trials, that Bungie cannot be trusted to maintain a PVP-focused game.
If Bungie could build up a big PVP revive in Destiny 2, over a period of years to prove they have a renewed endurance with it and will actually maintain it -- lots of focus on it, Iron Banner power level returning, SRL returning, lore-filled PVP elements, lots of vendors and rewards beyond just the lamest cut-paste garbage we see each time, over a period of years, then they could rebuild a trust from the vast vast majority of the Bungie community to even have an ounce of faith in a Bungie PVP property. Bungie cannot be trusted with PVP, yet. That to me, is the single most specific reason Marathon will absolutely not work. Bungie wants us to trust them on something they have neglected the most of all facets of their focal product. Absolutely not. Bungie must rebuild that trust FIRST, by correcting the neglect FIRST.

Remove heavy would be a good start

Edited by God Eater: 6/21/2025 8:07:09 PMGood luck with that. It’s literally impossible to please PvP only players.
-
A rebuild of D2 pvp would require the game to go on servers. Seriously doubt they'd put the investment required to do that.

A true fan of Destiny will never order Marathon regardless of
-
Honestly, Bungie will never fix PvP, ive said it before, it has and will always be a broken mess.
-
Well they've long since began Marathon so....
-
They won't do it Anyway. PvP broken, There no PVP DEV team to support cause all gone to support Marathon. PvP taken over to Streamer (Toxic/Cheat) BUNGIE NO RESOURCES TO FIX IT!!!

Edited by C-a-I-l-u-m: 6/20/2025 6:10:40 PMBecause bungie has proved with their flag ship game they don’t really care about PvP, the PvP players or even making sure we’re having fun. I will not be buying marathon (A PvP game)

They forgot that the foundation of business success is the trust of your customers. When customers start feeling like they are being scammed, they simply will stop supporting you. That's Marketing 101 something that BUNGIE clearly forgot even when the CEO was the head of Microsoft/Bungie marketing.

Destiny is a pve game though
