With Heresy ending soon, please never make activities like COB or Nether again unless the effort is actually rewarded.

It still amazes me that to this day, adept drops aren't guaranteed from either, yet all the timed events that require less than half the effort keep getting better rewards. Availability shouldn't matter, but difficulty. The game and several sources classify the Nether as a "nightfall". The difficulty may be labeled as "expert" in Nether and COB, but Nether increases enemy levels the further you go to the point they all have skull icons, something no other activity does unless you're going in significantly under leveled. Skulls meaning they're 30-40 above you, meaning higher than GMs and Master raids. Still, adepts aren't guaranteed and there's no way to increase these drops except just opening boss chests. As for COB, they are scaling up to master if not GM levels. Randoms often seemingly being adamant on doing everything the hard way, leaving 1 guy to take care of augments, or using the worst loadouts. Then the fun with the augments themselves, like placing objectives just a few feet away from enemy spawns, bosses hiding where you can't see them with Ritual or constant map hazards like Lucent Hive's purple spikes or Taken Ignition/ Isolation, Bound bosses not always moving away from each other, or needlessly stacking defense augments on top of each other like Sharpen and Bulwark. And what's the reward for killing 13 bosses with several minutes to spare on the off chance you get a competent team? Regular drops more than half the time and if by the off chance you get an adept, it's either not the one you're looking for, or the roll is trash with no way to increase the chances of a good roll unlike literally every other adept weapon in the game. If you're going to be that stingy on seasonal adepts, I'm not looking forward to how hard or unlikely T3-5 weapons will be in EOF and can think of no logical reason why we can't craft adepts or weapons equal to them.

  • Nether was great. Court was kind of fun for a little bit, but a bit too repetitive and didn't have great rewards.

  • The Nether might be the best seasonal activity they’ve ever done. 1) it felt varied because you didn’t get the same areas or objectives twice in a row 2) it showered you in loot… and expert was very soloable for adepts 3) you could focus what you wanted with the time of want Court of Blades wasn’t quite as generous but still really good. Not sure what else they could do to make a repeatable activity feel more new.

It wasn't bad but what I wished they did was turn it into a patrol destination like they did the Leviathan in "season of the haunted" and have mini events going around in each area

    • I liked Nether, it was fun and different. Health becomes a resource, meaning pay attention to what you are doing. Although it says its a Nightfall I don't think its comparable, Nether gives you tons of loot and has a ton of buffs you can get to increase your effectiveness and survivability, enemies buff a tad too, so I would define that as a balance. Unlike a GM, Nether doesn't instantly melt you into swiss cheese, you do get buffs in Nether and you aren't as squishy but you do need to pay attention to health.

      • I thought Nether was great and weapon drops were really plentiful. CoB was really hit or miss and the amount of loot per run was really depressing. So yeah, Nether good CoB bad

After seeing the crap that's coming next month, I'd be more than happy than to carry on with CoB and Nether.

      • Sounds like a skill issue I found them vary rewarding for how little effort they took

      • Having difficulty is fine, but if the reward isn't worth the hassle then it simply gets ignored. I am going to play the most difficult content as little as possible, get my triumph/seal/loot and never go back in unless I "have" to. Can I run it more than that? Absolutely, but honestly I just want to chill after a long day at work and that seems to be fairly common opinion, based on how few players have run higher tier difficultly modes such as GMs or Master content. Liking more difficult content isn't bad but liking easier content also isn't bad. Difficulty is very subjective and having options is great, which hopefully Bungie is going to solve with the new system (though it probably will be just as bad as current). I really hope that going forward, time spent is equal to difficulty level in relation to how loot is decided. If someone puts in the time, they should be rewarded, such as over-leveling and the chance to get more rare loot.

      • Played Nether once... what a boring unfocused activity. It makes Heist Battlegrounds look like a masterpiece of game design. Coil was the best.

      • Nether is great. You just need to change your playstile a little. Plenty of loot, but way to much junk. Court is a difficulty topic. Lucent Hive are way to strong compared to the other two factions and are very unfun to play against (immunity, immunity, immunity). Sadly that Guardian Games mode did it better when it comes to a boss pantheon. Loot sucks for both big time xD

      • I enjoyed both activities very much and got all the rolls I wanted from it. The Strand AR and Arc GL are cracked. I love both of them.

Love the difficulty of these activitys, but they defiantly could have added more loot/rewards. Bungie tried making all the content acquirable with low entry points, this was the Revenant episode. Where the exotic mission & all the main quest chain steps were linked together. It was generally disliked and the player population was at its lowest since COO and Jokers wild(gambit season). Difficulty is part of the secret sauce that is Destiny 2, look at the Salvation's Edge or the new addition of day one dungeon challenges. Making the end game more approachable was a big mistake they hopefully never make again. Finally to all those that think this is an elitist take, the end game can and should be impossibly hard while the on-boarding process can be approachable for new players.

        • Fair comments especially on CoB which gets beyond a joke when you draw lucent and horde for the encounters. Here, stand in this spot for 20 sec to drop the shield while the boss beams you and we bury you under a pile of exploding thralls hahahah. One obsevation I can't help making though is you don't seem to do any sort of buildcrafting as a quick look shows your characters with flat (ish) stat spreads. A focussed build makes a big difference in endgame. Good and bad news though if you are going to play EoF as your resilience will be brought up to 100 by default but building into class / archetype / role with matched weapon traits is going to be almost mandatory for high end activities after EoF drops. What I'm saying is don't expect things to change, in fact it may get worse.
