I just played through the Final Shape for the first time. I just have to say that in my 30 years alive, among all the rigged Halo Reach forge spawn trap pranks, all the movie licensed gamecube titles, GBA and Nintendo DS shovelware, bargain plug-n-plays I have gotten from my grandparents for Christmas, the various LCD happy-meal pack-ins that popped up from time to time and just Yu-Gi-Oh post 2013 in general, fighting The Witnesss in Iconoclasm on Legendary after the non-stop fisting that was the rest of the mission before has been by far the least fun I have ever had in a video game. I would rather be in 8th grade getting bullied and having my teeth knocked out again than have to experience that Guantanamo Bay torture device you call a campaign level again. I don't know how the level design has degraded so far from how good Witch Queen's Legendary was, but the dread are hell to fight, much less in a one-shot bullet hell where the only viable option is to abuse bad AI and cheezy room geometry. It's as if someone saw people hiding under the stairs in Calus' awful boss fight and determined that's how people want to play the game rather than doing so to avoid the absolute hellish encounter design.

  • This is the way Bungie is going, they are out of original ideas, so they either copy, or just make everything hit harder, have 10x more ads because of reasons, etc; e.g. they're lazy.

  • The point of the dread was to answer players prayers of an actually tough enemy (Final Shape and Lightfall were designed to be harder due to player feedback). So you have bats with ability suppression, close range melee/bomber enemies, 2 psions with new stronger abilities and weapons, and the subjugators. Though once you realize they don't respawn till you hit certain health thresholds you learn to clear em out before doing damage. Even on legendary the final boss is super easy once you do so. And unlike Savathun's boss room with almost no cover forcing constant running around and finding cheese spots where no enemies can reach there are at least spots to hide that are easy to defend. As for the final boss make sure to have sound on. Or at least watch the bottom left. It makes a decently loud sound when he starts charging, another when it's finished, then you hear them launch. It'll also warn of the attack being charged up. As for the other 2 the knights pretty easy honestly he might be TOO easy for what's supposed to be one of the final fights leading to the last campaign boss. Ogre is the other spectrum. Where the Witness is decently tough but not unfair and the knight is kinda too easy the Ogre gives like 0 spots to hide with a ton of enemy spam. The one saving grace is the fact the thing has super low hp making it only take like 3 rockets on legendary to reach the health gate.

  • The entire campaign is greatly overrated. Level design was meek, the lost sectors are incredibly long compared to all other locations, the witness isn't built up well as a villain if you only play the main campaigns, and you are left asking why discord is happening between people who trust each with their immortal lives.
