Title says it all. Dual Destiny and Marathon prove that Bungie doesn't value solo players.
My question, will the new expansion have a dual activity again? Or, has Bungie finally learned (they haven't) that solo player's opinions and experience is relevant to the game's longevity?
Time will tell.

Haven't seen one of these posts in a while. Seems nothing has changed lol.

Edited by Guardian,Archon Of Light: 6/14/2025 5:55:39 AMSolo player here Of course they still want to make multiplayer content, why they didn't stay at Microsoft to churn out Halo sequels untill the end of time With that said it's ludicrous to suggest they hate solo players The Majority of content in the game can be done solo, or without communication required, they design dungeon mechanics around solo players, and they made fireteam finder to be a substitute for matchmaking, to make it easier for solos to find a squad Also, they gave exotic class items to us for candy last festival, now we can buy them from Xur, or farm overthrow, we just can't focus them, and that's an acceptable compromise to me I just wish they would remove the ability to kick, no other multi-player game has that option, because it can be abused to grief other players

Edited by ben: 6/19/2025 3:08:22 AMIf you are a solo player dual destiny does nothing for you. The exotic class item basically breaks the ceiling with buildcrafting and lets you have insanely strong builds that are really only useful in endgame content... which is all team based. It could take you a month of failure to clear dual destiny and it would be worth it for the value it would add to the game for you. It just is hard if you play solo or dont know vow symbols, but something that good should be pretty challenging, and like I said it isnt needed if you are a solo player. And once you have it once you never have to do it again. That being said im happy to help you with dual destiny if you want

90% of the game is made with solo players in minds, the new dlc have solo ops with difficulty option so you can do all your levels alone
-
They are working on making the game more solo friendly. Rite of the Nine is the first step from the looks of it. Dungeons & Raids are a waste of a lot of hard drive space for most Players since very few Players get to do Dungeons & Raids otherwise.

get a life and friends and life is alot easier also dual destiny can be done in a coma so ya stop being a panzy and talk to people
-
I think solo players hate themselves.

Last year they released an in game lfg system. But yeah, there’s one mission that reunited row players. How horrible. How dare they make fun content that players with friends could enjoy. They should cater entirely and design every activity for those that are scared to talk to another human being.

Good lord

Doing the mission duo wasn't the problem it was the strict communication for the mechanics that was needed or screen sharing that made the mission bs and practically a mini raid since dungeons can be done without strict communication, obv communication helps but doesn't rely on what another player sees on there screen only to progress unlike destiny duo

Yes, the forums were on fire over dual destiny and bungie allowed players to unlock the class item during FotL, problem is they have never repeated that since for anyone that purchased FS afterwards. 🤷

Dual Destiny again? Really? Ok, I will ask you this question, how many Duo activities are in the game?
It's 1
This just boils my blood I'm sorry, you might even have had a good point but the whole Dual Destiny business just hacks me off. One of the best missions in the entirety of Destiny and entitled negative lazy gamers ruined it because you couldn't be bothered to learn how to do it.

Le_Reinforcements
Le Reinforcements have arrived… - old
Raids and dungeons have existed, Trials didn’t always have a solo queue, Crimson Days (duos), the Final Shape co-op campaign missions for the exotic heavy Trace Rifle, Excision… Bungie’s had plenty of activities that require or at the very least heavily encourage partnering up for rewards. It’s nothing new. That said, many people (myself included) just don’t want to bother with LFG, either due to bad prior experience or whatever. Matchmaking should at least be an option for every activity, with the expectation that using LFG would naturally be faster, but at the very least you can always attempt every part of the game without having to interact any more than absolutely necessary. -

Very few things actually require a premade team, or for you to use LFG in any capacity and those things are completely optional activities for the most part. It's not that Bungie doesn't value solo players, you guys just want everything to be designed with you in mind and that's not how it works.
-
I would say that, respectfully, Bungie values solo players probably more than non-solo players.

Summer Solstice is coming in a month. You'll be able to buy your class item accesses then.
-
Wow. You didn’t even need to run Dual Destiny to get the class item & people still complain that Bungie hates solos?
-
Imagine still malding after a year that the class item, which has a 1 time only run for a permanent grind. 90% of the game is for solo players. Future has solo ops which are for solo players as the name implies But sure, the solo player is getting ignored

Edited by jmann43b: 6/11/2025 4:18:15 PMDual Destiny was nearly a year ago and Marathon is a completely different game. Edit: Sorry, just checked and it was a year ago.
