Why are ONLY the checkmarks getting picked?

OK, so I'm doubting anyone from Bungie is EVER going to read this at all, but after the list that I saw on the T.W.A.B./T.W.I.D. today for those that got to actually try out a preview of the next saga of Destiny, I had to say something. I was...shoot, I've been getting REALLY disappointed these days, and the reason for this is because you guys are going after BIG names when it comes to literally ANYTHING Destiny. With the exception of two of those names on that list because they were news magazines, ALL OF THEM were streamers with the purple check marks next to their names. Now personally I don't have that snazy check mark (I don't meet the metrics for getting one at all, and no this is NOT an attempt to even do that). I've been streaming Destiny 2 since the Beta (OK, there was a slight gap there because we actually couldn't afford the game at the time, but were able to later on. The game ended up being a Christmas gift from my other half). I've streamed ALL of the story line that's been in the game, (though I have been meaning to do a lore reading from the game on stream, just haven't gotten around to it, A.D.H.D. brain doesn't help things) and have been showing off my reactions to EVERYTHING. Look, I'm just disappointed that literally the ONLY ones that ever get picked are usually ONLY those with the purple check marks. I even noted on stream today that those whom I know would even give a better more fair and honest telling of the game and how things are even for what's coming up. Shoot, a friend of mine and I (and I try to get other friends in on this as well) do a end of episode/season review and how things are and what we might look towards for the coming time as the game moves on. Look, not all of the VoDs are available any more because of Twitch killing those even sooner to make more room, but since they allow for the dual streams now, a lot of those are also over on YouTube as well. Look I know that I may never get noticed by you guys and only those on this forum that don't actually work for Bungie, or any of the community folks that work for Bungie. However I freaking adore this game, if you ever do come to the stream, not only do I have the background in the room littered with all kinds of things from Destiny 2, but at the same time, I even have redeems to use several of the items I have, from the GjallerNerf, to the Ace of Spades Nerf, to the wearable Celestial Nighthawk helmet. I even do the Titan super with the shield. Anyway, like I said, I don't know if anyone from Bungie here will EVER see this posting, but this is a feedback to the part of the T.W.A.B./T.W.I.D. that had the names on their that were only checkmarked names. One of these days, who knows, maybe you'll even see the charity run that I do in August called the Chaotic Day of Raids Charity Event. Where me and 5 other streamers all gather together stream at the same time talk to our chats, all without deafening (unless a family emergency comes up), and pulling off crazy things all while running ALL the raids, and all the chaos that comes with them. Yes the next one is coming up in a few months from now. The only raid we don't do is the latest one that comes out at the time close to that event because not all of us have run that raid (namely myself). So this year, we'll be running from Last Wish, all the way to the current raid as of this posting (the new one coming with the new DLC will NOT be run) Anyway, I know that this is long, but at the same time, I'm Hoping that someone from Bungie will read this and understand that there are more streamers out there that are playing Destiny 2 than just the checkmark bunch, and who will give honest opinions of the game. Look I know that I'm literally no one special, never claimed to be, but at the same time, we're the part of the Destiny (and yes I'm talking Destiny 2, I just don't want to always put the 2 on there) community that ALWAYS gets over looked. The one person that always gets picked last because no one wants to have us on their team no matter what but reluctantly takes us because there's no one else left. So, community leads that are supposed to read these, why not check out my channel and see what you think. The channel name is the same as my username, both for Twitch, and YouTube. Maybe I'll see someone from Bungie there, though to be completely honest, I'm not holding my breath. I'll have Hope, but I'm not holding my breath.

  • The answer is not what you want to hear. They choose "check marks" as they are for the most part professional content creators who have met the requirements for Twitch partnership, which include things like follower count, hours streamed, etc.. The point of the "event" is to get eyes on the game content, so they are going to pick those who offer the most bang for the buck and have a track record they can see. Choosing large creators for these events helps with marketing. They offer growing creators things like emblem codes to give out to help them, but for a marketing push you can expect them to go with established partnered creators. When Aztecross can have more viewers than 3/4s of the rest of the directory combined it is hard to justify picking an unpartnered or affliate streamer over them. its just pure numbers.
