Genuinely what happened to just having a good ol’time when doing basic activities?
The whole base difficulty bump up is widely regarded as bad.

1 ReplyI don't mind a challenge, but bullet sponges and immune enemies are no fun. Was working the Shadows of the Deep dungeon and got to the last boss fight. Then it was timers and jumping through hoops and endless ads, so I quit. Find it hard to get into it any more. I want to be a powerful Guardian who has lines to speak, not a wimp who gets coffee for Ikora.

Ehh ? The game has litteraly NEVER been easier. From trials to Gm's the community gained both experience and insane powers and abilities. We are legit gods now x)

1 ReplyEvery game is the same now, eevs pander to the best players and streamers as they get free wow marketing, and these people also spend money in the fame buying pointless shitvto look good
-
Certain modifiers ruin basic activities by forcing you to play the game the way Bungie wants you to.
-
Fail rate = bloated engagement metrics. Bungie is going to learn in the coming days, that time played is not always quality time. People playing the game while feeling strong armed to do so, is going to lead to lasting damage to their brand… and likely already has. See the response to Marathon for evidence of this.
-
Player numbers reflect that you are not alone with your opinion on the difficulty topic. But hey, atleast mr streamer xyz has earned bragging right with the dumb "bring challenge back to destiny" agenda + they can sell carries :=)
-
3 RepliesBecause Bungie wanted players to treat Destiny as a job, not as a hobby. They think we have hours and hours of free time to play and dedicate time to longer and more complex activities, whereas many of us just want to relieve some daily stresses by blasting aliens and having some fun. I just don’t have the energy to spend on lengthy gameplay. Sorry.
-
3 RepliesMajority of players left don't go outside so they have enough time to practice running on the hamster wheel

1 ReplyEdited by UnnamedRomancer: 6/1/2025 11:10:01 PMThere’s not enough difference between maxed out build and new unsynnergised build, both players have to play the same way to get through If I’ve got 100 resilience and gear score 2020, why am I not tanky??? They don’t want us spamming consecration but nothing else comes close to the sustained damage output without significant drawbacks.

5 RepliesConstant nerfs and Bungies weird decision to push towards ability spam. Also content creators impots making their ways in. It is indeed fun dying to like 5 shots in Strikes.

4 RepliesEdited by One Death, Lord Of Xibalba: 5/31/2025 10:33:04 PMHard, eh? (-blam!- the Wretched Eye/or Skolas on ARC/Solar burn? The shanks probably killed more Guardians than Crota did on the Moon, lmao. D2 has never been hard, players have just stopped caring about putting in the effort into build-crafting for survival, etc etc. 🤷♂️ edit: Why are the words "who" or "remembers" being censored?

3 RepliesI know man. I don’t touch pve at all. The dang story missions are a raid puzzle and the bosses have 3 phases. Annoying. D1 pve was the best simple yet effective left you wanting more. I’ve only been playing PvP since beta. Sad I lost track of the story.
-
It only gets hard when players aren't willing to help others playing with players make things easier you will learn that in edge of fate since the new progression system will require you to work with players to get -blam!- done similar to Anthem. Keep this in mind!

2 RepliesIt's the light caps... regardless of how much time you invest you don't get stronger...most of the numbers are functionality useless they only exist to make you think you're making progress but you're not...it's a practiced psychological hook...
-
If you learn how to use any of these: devour, heal clip, restoration, woven mail, and choose appropriate weapons for an activity..... This is not a very difficult game. There's a skill ceiling sure but if you have a fire team in activities that require them it's not bad. I'm curious what part of the game you're talking about.

2 RepliesEdited by Mephistic: 5/31/2025 4:36:29 PMI may be wrong in this assumption, but i'm thinking this is in reference to the Dreadnought (Sh^tnought as i like to call it) The place is obnoxious and not really that fun. Especially when every single quest step in everything we do sends us back in there. FFS, there's really no build diversity in that hell hole. I can see that being the biggest issue. I took a few months break from D2 because I got tired of the place. Come back just to spend the last 3 days doing stuff in there to get the Barrow Dyad catalyst and all the obnoxious quests done in the place. Come on Bungie, do better. I know you felt the need to waste money on that new travesty project but it doesn't mean you needed to hit D2 with lackluster ideas and expect the playerbase to enjoy it.

12 RepliesLightfall ruined destiny in a big way for many, a MASSIVE difficulty increase across the board in everything and now we have like 20+ builds for each subclass that you ideally want to learn to maximize your damage or you'll be shafting yourself. It's way too complex and needlessly difficult.

Guardian,Archon Of LightEliksni at Heart,Archon of House Light - old
We are overpowered, the game is easy mode , with the exception of contest activities -
5 RepliesI mean some things are hard. Most games without any difficulty increase are boring and unrewarding to play. I would say at least 50% of the game (pve at least. PvP depends on your opponents.) would not fall in the “difficult” category. Standard story missions, patrols, heroic strikes, and 10 wave onslaught, would likely fall into the “easy category”. Medium content would be things like seasonal activities, legend and maybe master nightfall strikes, legend and master lost sectors outside of the pale heart and neomuna, and some quests/adventures/ exotic missions. Hard content would be the master version of many seasonal activities or exotic missions. Legendary lost sectors on neomuna and the pale heart. Standard difficulty dungeons would probably go here as well. Endgame would be master difficulty dungeons, standard and master raids, and grandmaster nightfalls. Salvations edge gets its own “Ludicrous” difficulty for its sheer amount of asinine mechanics that prevent most players from ever even getting to complete it once, let alone understand the mechanics. And yes before the elitists chew my head off, if you have mastered the stupid mechanics then it can be easy. The number of players that can do that though is well under 1% though.

you're probably playing hunter which is the worst class in the game by several magnitudes.
-
6 RepliesSkill issue. This game has never been hard; the player base just sucks.
-
Hard, this game isn’t too hard. Like 90% of events have matchmaking besides raids and a few dungeons. Loot drops like candy. Sure nightfalls can be a bit tough but making a slight build and taking cover makes it easier.

2 RepliesEdited by Joulevette12: 5/31/2025 4:30:27 PMI honestly think they need to just do D3 because this game needs an overhaul now due the past mistakes and they are finally catching up to it and driving more players off the bringing them. IMO the thing that is hurting this game most is balancing between Pvp and PvE it worked fine soo far but it's starting to show some major issue now especially how much PvE been improving over the years with the constant nerfs and buffs each season is actually holding both modes back. I seriously think Bungie needs to find a way to actually separate both modes because this thin line idea hurting both modes especially long term.
