Pardon my sportsball analogy. It will continue.
Bungie is down (edit: bad). We're talking mid-late game and they're staring up at a LARGE defecit. Hands are on knees. It certainly seems like we need a bunch of home runs or deep shots.
Take the GD layups. Leg out the singles. Take the easy wins on your way to the big swings and stop timegating your content.
We could've rotated through all three dungeons THREE TIMES, but no, we have to do one slowas s rotation 3 weeks at a time.
And tbh, it's not really about the event. This Pantheon knockoff isn't my cup of tea, but all the people that come to rake Bungo over the coals for stupid decision making now have warranted and justified ammo to crap on you. There's just no logical defense for it, and believe me, I try to get you Volkswagen Beetle full of clowns as much grace as I can knowing that you're run by people as morally bankrupt as they are devoid of intelligent thought, but sometimes you all just come together to cook up a truly baffling display of poor decision making.
Pivot. Please.

Even their “big swings” end up just being pop flies…

Play something else.

Sounds like its 3-28 at the half.. sadly.. Bungie doesn't have Brady at QB.

I’m not much of a sports guy so I can’t respond with the lingo… but I agree. Time gating is unfortunately part of a larger issue where Bungie feels the necessity to strong arm the player into engaging with the game. There are layers upon layers of engagement tactics in D2… some of which are admittedly a part of the DNA of the game(difficult content, rare drop rates, the world evolving, balancing issues etc.). Any change to some of those aspects of the game inevitably could cause a ripple effect in development that would be difficult to manage. However, time gating is something, that if removed, would effect nothing but what Bungie perceives as being necessary to engage players. I’m critical of this game for sure, but at the core of my main gripe with the game, is that it’s FUN, and some of the tactics used to get people to experience that fun, make it less so.

I'm thinking the Dungeons are not ready yet.. or taking feedback and trying to improve them... the only clips we have ever seen of ROTN revision is Spire.. so maybe they need the 3 weeks for each one. Its about expectations, communication and then maybe just working progression +extra quests (and bugs) to "play small ball" .. "protect the plate"... ...but even more is worrisome... the change notes https://www.bungie.net/7/en/News/Article/destiny_update_8_2_6_1 have a total of 5 things listed... there are a lot of known issues (Cruel Mercy still no MW!)... on the execution side too did they expect people to play 30+ games of something on the same map and be thrilled about that? (HM) Its a free event.. there are nice-ish things.. they just can't get ahead of some built-upon bugs/bad philosophy (absolute minimum possibly acceptable release with no iteration plan)... aka errors, technical fouls, missing free throws... ...I guess TWID tomorrow might be interesting... -
Edited by EMUracing: 5/14/2025 4:07:24 PMWhat is going to happen, and is basically what is happening, is people will play the dungeon out on the first week, get a decent amount of loot but get tired of that dungeon from running multiple runs the week earlier. When the next week comes, if there is a quest, it will be run one time on explore because of burnout. Then the player will probably sign off or go play a different game because of annoyance. I do not want to do spire again for a while, and despite attuning to one specific weapon, I had 80% of my drops as a different one which I never plan to use. All of the Spire weapons I have little interest in, but Liminal Vigil is the only one which I may use in PvP if I get the roll that Im looking for. I doubt it will replace my breachlight, but then again, I never got the breachlight that I wanted despite focusing it 100x. IMO, with this event, we should be unlocking patterns with quests that are longer and have more steps than what is offered. Then we can shape the weapon that we want. All of the ROTN weapons feel like they are missing their best possible combinations, and fall a bit short. With only 3 weapons that are a bit more than kinda interesting. I would play considerably more to unlock patterns than a chance at a chance of a roll on a weapon that I am interested in. Sub me out coach, im done!
