There was nothing wrong with Pantheon's formula. All Rot9 had to do was the exact same thing. You drop Spire on opening day, Ghosts a week later, and Pantheon the week after that. Simple. You get your recurring logins, we get new content every week as well as plenty of time to play the content without the timegate between Prophecy's launch and the release of Edge of Fate.
You couldn't even do that much right. You couldn't even copy an established winning formula.
Go ahead and meme me with the "see you in Kepler" responses, but I'm dead serious when I say I haven't preordered Edge of Fate yet. This is the first expansion since Shadowkeep that I haven't preordered, and it's because Bungie keeps doing pants-on-head [redacted] stuff like this and making us do the pinnacle grind every season, AFTER changing it for the better in Lightfall.
The game is actively getting WORSE as we go now. And I have zero desire to regrind all my armor in a game that's actively getting less rewarding every season. "Check out this cool new weapon stat! You deal bonus damage to bosses when your stat goes past 100!" Awesome, this upcoming contest raid is scuffed now. Either the DPS checks are tuned assuming 200 Weapon and anyone who can't grind that out before it launches is trolling their fireteams by joining, or they aren't tuned for that and all the NEETs who have the time to grind it out get to pass the checks for free then whine on Bluesky that it was too easy.
200 Health is now the cap and continues granting defensive bonuses past 100? Great, my current Resilience set is now useless in any content harder than a playlist strike, because all that damage output will be tuned assuming you have 200 Health and appropriate defensive mods. Or cranked through the roof regardless, under the assumption that you should just be killing everything before it can shoot anyway.
I've already told my clan I'm uninstalling after Rite of the Nine is over. They asked very nicely for me to run it with them, and to an extent, I legitimately still enjoy Destiny's gameplay. But I just can't with whatever [redacted] keeps making all these boneheaded decisions. They're the guy who should've been laid off, not Salvatori.

I said it about Sunsetting and Vaulting and I’ll say it again here: You can’t call this a joke. People LIKE jokes

As long as the community keeps giving Bungie their money KNOWING they keep doing this crap, then Bungie has the “rite” to do what they want. Why would Bungie change if the community wont?🤔 Until you stop giving them your money, they NOT gon change. 10 years and we still aint learned nothing! So who’s really to blame?
-
Honestly all they really did was add an extra step in completing things. Gotta wait to see what they've cooked up for GotD. I wouldn't call this to be like pantheon since we're not killing bosses back to back with the total encounters escalating.

Yeah idk if I want another 10 years of having to treat this game like a job to get any enjoyment out of it. Rng has been so horrible lately, Bungie is moving away from crafting, vault space is always an issue, “hard” content is just tedious instead of fun, and Bungie can’t even do an event without needing to dripfeed or time-gate or adding a stupid modifier to stuff. It’s bad man and it’s just gonna get worse.

I was kind of hoping Bungie would have moved on to D3 at this point simply to not ruin D2. It may have already started with Armor 3.0. I’ll wait for the full release to judge but it sounds worse overall.

[/quote] If that really meant anything, you already wouldn't be playing. If your friends asking you to play gets you to play content you have probably already played for loot that will be meaningless to you, you'll come back. You may not preorder edge of fate, you may not even play for the first month or two of edge of fate, but you'll come back. I have three friends exactly like you in that regard. So here's your choice, realistically. You have a decision to make, and it's up to you what path you take. Do the good parts of this game, and by extension the people you play it with, matter enough for you to continue playing it despite having all this negative sentiment for the developer? Because it's never just gonna be "I'll do this one last thing and then leave." That's never how it works. If you're leaving, you have to leave. I say this from experience, both with friends and for myself. I went cold turkey after curse of osiris. If forsaken hadn't been the game saving expansion that it was I never would've come back. If you arbitrarily set a stopping point, you're not actually gonna stop. Even if you think you are. You either go cold turkey, here and now, or you keep going through with the daily frustrations. This is why people meme the whole "see you next xpac" thing. If someone cares enough to show up on these forums and say things like this, they're usually not gonna stay gone for long. We've seen it far too many times.
