Seriously, only Bungie can f this up.
Seriously the controls are terrible, the map is terrible. And wtf, why Supremacy ?
Hit registrations barely works, the damage is all over the place and so is the fire rate. For no reason other than for you to die, the gun will just jam.
Oh and also there are cheaters in here making it even more fun.
Terrible addition to the game. Further making pvp worse.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More informal review after playing it more.
MAP: The map is clearly not meant for this mode. Whilst the Brig doesn't have that much issue traversing it, the Tank on the other hand does. It gets stuck on everything and if you drive off the ledge, there is a high possibility that you will land upside down and then watch the game struggle with trying to flip you. So you will mostly sit there and watch your tank do some flips for awhile.
The Controls: My god, do i even have to say anything ? Okay so the Brig handles okay, all be it very slowly and its walking animation is terrible. The biggest issue with the Brigg is that it will randomly use its dodge. Seriously i am not pressing the dodge button, nor am i double tapping a certain direction.
The Tank, Don't even get me started. Why do you control the Tank with both sticks or wasd and your mouse ? Whose idea was that ? What will often happen is that your controls will just flip all randomly. The tank will often change what side is the front and because of these terribly designed controls, this will happen pretty much constantly. Not to mention how it loves to get stuck on the terrain. So many times have i gotten hit by and otherwise easily avoidable hit, all because my Tank got attracted to an ice block.
Hit registration: Uhm... where is it ? I swear to god the hit registration only exist when it feels like it. So many direct hits and nothing. They are probably using the hitbox of the Guardians and that is why it so -blam!- inconsistent.
Fire rate: All over the place. some times there is a 1 second delay between shots and other times there might be 2 seconds. It can also be 0.5 seconds when you are doing a 1v1, but not for the both of you though. So it is extremely unfair when a person just gets double your fire rate.
Supremacy: Seriously why is this a Supremacy game mode ? It really didn't need to be and it is so poorly implemented as well. You already move so slowly in this game mode, why did you feel the need to also make the game slow ? Not to mention how broken it is.
First of all it gives 2 hits of health back, WHY ?
that is far to much, so much so that you can kill the entire enemy team by just picking them up.
I have seen it happen multiple times and even done so myself. Then we have the issue of even collecting it.
Quite a few kills will be from a far, so that means that your enemies are most likely going to pick it up. Secondly, for what ever reason the coin can be picked up before the person is even dead. I am not even joking. I have been in a 1 vs 2 and before my killing shot hit someone, the other person just heals up and the coin is gone. All before that person is even dead. WTF.
New issue found, you will not always pick up the token, even though you walk through it or even stand on it.
MISC: WHY do we have to spend some rare tokens to re-roll bounties ? There is 0 rewards in this mode anyways. It is not like you are giving away exotics, Adepts and Artifice. You are selling Glimmer. Dafuq.
Why do the Heavy metal engram only contain 2 world weapons that no one uses and 2 mediocre Nightfall weapons ? Why didn't you make any unique weapons in the theme of these game mode ?
Who is going to sit and grind Heavy metal for Boondoggle ?
Opening intro to the match is unnecessarily long.
Lastly, why is the new gun mounted Sparrow 140 ? The enemies has almost no issues what so ever to hit you when you are going at 190, not to mention how little health they have. A single linear shot and your sparrow is gone. Now at 140, you will most likely be dead before you even start to shoot.

I thoroughly enjoyed it

Edited by HollowKage: 5/14/2025 9:19:34 PMIt’s “awful” because you cheating punks, can’t cheat. Aim assist….lmao won’t work here little buddies….damn look at all the cheaters…

damn is only 2 h and skill issue players are already cyring

Your comment is longer than the event itself. Stop taking yourself so seriously. It's a throwaway mode with no polish that you don't have to play. I personally don't enjoy it so won't play it.
-
Edited by Zuni: 5/12/2025 8:04:28 PMSilly and fun in small doses.

Why am I always a tank?

Edited by Richie: 5/10/2025 3:26:54 AM(I guess I gotta start using the Bungie.net Forums for feedback since I'm always getting banned on Reddit for being reported as a troll for having a different opinion than others.) – There IS a clear outlier between the two, and I really don't know how the team didn't see it in testing. Tank SWF can bring a Brig to half from full. Brig SWF does next to nothing. – Tanks are way more agile (can literally run circles around a Brig; I have won doing it). – Things feel very wonky for both of them, though. Hit registration in general barely works (shoutout to the Destiny P2P servers meanwhile Marathon gets dedicated servers). The gun will just jam for whatever reason and you're unable to shoot. Traversing the map is a pain in the -blam!- with either a Tank or a Brig because the slightest incline or the smallest rock will stop you in your tracks. With all of that being said, I'm not intending for my words to discourage Bungie from continuing to make more wacky PvP modes. I have been wanting Halo-y modes since D1. I have been wanting Bungie to remember that Halo is a game that's under their belt and to tap back into their Halo roots. I think Heavy Metal misses the mark, but I'm not mad at Bungie for making it.

It is really awful. I also don't love that they put nightfall weapons (PvE) into PvP mode, but we're forced to farm tons of weapons that are great for PvE in PvP only. It feels like crap to be fed to no-life PvP players who cried about SBMM. Yet, the same people are more than happy to dunk on PvE players. Most people I've talked to hate PvP and just go in and suffer from time to time for certain guns/catalysts because they have to.
-
It's throw away content instantly forgettable with utterly lackluster rewards vehicles are inequality balanced and maps are just rushed. Just play a few and move on get the seal if ya can stand the mode long enough grab the emblem at rank 5 I'm afraid to say it baking cookies was more enjoyable & impactful than this mode 🤣😂 That's it in a nutshell.
-
Heavy metal is ABSOLUTELY not worth my time.
-
Better be careful you going to piss off the bungie boot lickers with this one..
-
From what I'm told, M&K is a MUCH better experience then console, but dang it truly sucks big ones on console. I HATE IT. Truly wishing I was a big time streamer so Bungo could give me plentiful silver to buy all my levels for the sparrow and bypass this @@@@hole too!! (Not exaggerating after watching one vid on how "you" could get it quickly he admits he used silver given to him from Bungo.) Oh and by quickly waste an entire day to grind! Just remember you no longer pay $100 bucks for a years worth of Destiny but only half a year now and we get this kind of crap!!! Pay more get less and watch your soul melt before you!
-
Yeah, this is the first time in my life that I have ever said the phrase "heavy metal sucks"
-
I'm like 70% sure that tanks do flat out more damage than brigs. In a brig even when I have a health advantage, fire first, hit all shots, AND hit a missile I STILL don't win a 1v1 sometimes because I deal like no damage per shot and then the tank absolutely chunks me.
-
Agree completely! The experience is so bad I wont go after the sparrow not worth putting myself through this misery. It's obvious they dont play test anymore.
-
Absolute joke, what a disgrace of a game mode.
-
Tried it for 5 minutes, will not touchbit again, if I wanted to play council house mechwarrior I would
-
Just don't take it seriously. That's the problem. Sure I wish it had more options than the slow moving turret, maybe option to put traps or mines and a machine gun or something to make it less boring. But it's just mindless party mode. Put some music etc. and don't care about the scores.
-
To be honest, despite having 15 wins and 3 losses (despite being a solo), this mode is pretty boring. It's pretty much straight forward. Just quickly close in to your target and do special/normal attacks at the same time quickly and always do evasion action to avoid being targeted at. Always stay with one of your teammates for rushing in one of the targets (reminds me of the 3 VS 3 team attack PVP when Destiny 2 first came out). One of the 'quest' I absolutely hate the most is getting 6 'leader' kills. If you or your teammate has the 'leader' status, it's pretty much impossible to complete that. That one needs to go.
-
Most of my matches are losses. Can't seem to get a win streak going or try to get to 10 wins because of the player not playing tactically, shooting ahead of the target or team shooting.
-
4 games in a row as brig and only 1 has counted towards the 2 for the bounty math is hard for bungLe
-
Edited by Demon4hire: 5/10/2025 1:40:23 PMI want the sparrow but I hate Heavy Metal. Yet another game mode that I feel "forced" to play. I wished they just removed heavy vehicles from the game. Leave sparrows in for utility, stop wasting time and money.
-
I finished the event today. (Yes, I am pathetic. I know.) and I have to say this game mode is just pretty much a trial to see how a PVP mode with vehicles work, but I found very little enjoyment out of it. I am glad they are trying different things but I think this came out half-baked. One map only and it wasn't very fun and they couldn't get in Lennie James to record new lines for it? I know they are focusing on Marathon sure but come on Bungie, give a little love for Destiny 2.
-
It needed to be 6v6 to have it be a fun mode instead of 3v3 where it just feels like -blam!-
-
I played a few matches, then realized I can just get the new sparrow by leveling up with Silver…
-
Vehicle combat has always been one of Destiny's weaker points. Heavy Metal just further confirms this.
