don't ya think having the weapon stat that directly affects your damage is a bad idea?

on the upcoming edge of fate update there's going to be the weapon stat that affects your reload and handling speed of your weapons which is nice, but it gets a bit problematic when at 200 points it gives you increased damage in PVP as well as increased ammo pickups , which is going to be a bad idea IMHO because it will become a even more mandatory perk in most endgame content and LFG groups compared to having max resilience.

  • On paper sounds like a terrible idea; but I'll reserve judgement until more info. Too little information is known to draw any sort of conclusion.

To be clear the secondary effect described in each stat block kicks in once the player reaches 101 in the associated stat, gradually gaining in power until it reaches the cap at 200, as explained in the Developer Insights - Next Generation Armor article posted October 1st (emphasis added):
Stat effects will be capped at 200, with the range from 101-200 providing an additional powerful effect building on the base effect. This change is intended to support deeper investment in a smaller number of stats, and “spikier” stat distributions on armor with fewer secondary “dump stats.”
Meanwhile, because the reveal stream video does not display any individual stat above 100, we weren’t given enough information to accurately determine the amount of weapon damage bonus one might receive against players/bosses at lower vs higher second tier stat values and whether there is any degree of diminishing returns at the higher end (a mechanic the devs have previously utilized with stacking Armor Mods). Ultimately I imagine the weapon damage bonus against Guardians/Bosses for reaching the second tier will be need to be weighed against the recharge rates of Abilities based on investment into their respective stats, the damage bonus values to Melee/Grenades at the second tier, the strength of the Overshield granted for using your Class Ability at higher stat values, as well as the relative viability of builds that emphasize sources of damage other than weapons and those that focus on increased defenses (Overshield, Woven Mail, Frost Armor, etc.) when combined with Subclass Fragments (likely to receive a variety of balance changes as well), Armor Mods and Armor Set Bonuses through hands on experience before we can determine a single stat to be the obvious “must have”.
