Hello Bungie
I’ve been playing Destiny 2 since its release, and my in game name has always been TiceNitsV69. Recently, without warning, my name was changed to Guardian3017. I was not notified or given the option to appeal or update my name beforehand.
This feels incredibly disrespectful to long-time players like myself who have invested countless hours and hard-earned money into this game and its expansions. If the name was an issue, why wasn’t it flagged years ago? Why now, and why without warning?
I’m reaching out to request a clear explanation and the opportunity to change my name to something of my choosing. If there’s no path forward—no way to undo or fix this—I want to be completely honest: I will never touch Destiny 2 again. I’ve supported this game for too long to be treated like this, and I won’t continue to support a company that strips away my identity in a game I’ve invested so much in.
I’m confused as to why this change happened now after all these years, especially considering the name had never triggered any filters or issues in the past. I understand there may have been updates to the naming policy or automated moderation tools, but I’d really appreciate some clarification on why my name was flagged ASAP.
Please let me know if there’s any way I can submit a name change request, or if another Bungie Name Change token will be made available.
Thank you for your time and support.
Best regards
Garbage Guardian3017 name

Edited by viiTactiiCZz: 5/8/2025 2:01:13 AMYou don't get a warning when its going to happen, they simply change it and give you the generic cross-play message. Names are primarily force changed after being reported by players or seen by Bungie as they go about doing things, only time the filter really automatically catches people is on first sign in but at the time of that your name managed to get past it. There's no way to appeal this or to request a token, tokens are not given out on request. If its saying you have none then you've got a bug that they're looking into, but there's no ETA for a fix on that. If it's saying 'you can only change your Bungie name one time' then you have a name change token available. The warning is the banned name policy here and the code of conduct here. Be honest though, did you honestly believe that 'TiceNitsV69' was not going to get changed eventually? Any of the bungie staff looking at it will quickly see you swapped the 2 letters (I know its used elsewhere as a joke) but as far as they're concerned it's just you skirting the filter.
