So after seeing the armour 3.0 rework, It got me thinking and…
All I see is just the core attribute mechanic from Division 2 (Weapon damage, Survivability, and Ability damage)
Seeing that the weapon stat just boosts gun damage to targets in general and the health stat boosts survivability and your ability stats improve regen and damage, I could see plays where one could drop all stats tied to their abilities and focus on weapon damage if they were a gun heavy setup or vice versa for abilities. Possibly a setup I could see people doing for high end content or group play where you can have teammates cover for your weaknesses could be more of a glass cannon setup where they could sacrifice all points in the other stats and have max weapon and super stats.
The only problem I could see is that Bungie probably wouldn’t allow us to have multiple stats sit at zero while dumping them into stats that you actually would want for your playstyle. Likely every piece of gear will have “dead points” and you would have to use a specific mod on your gear to allocate them somewhat to your liking but then you would be using a mod slot and when you are fine tuning your build, every mod slot counts for certain setups.
So unless if we have a way to say have a higher chance for a group of stats (I know about the ghost mods that we have currently which will be changed for this new system probably) or that certain armour sets have a greater chance to roll with a certain stat allocations, I could see people maybe not caring to much about the new system and barely interact with it and stick with either what they already have or just find whatever set bonus that they like and not really invest into build crafting.
I don’t know what the new system will bring to the game but that just my 2 cents in the end.
