Bungie API throttling

When I try to sign in to Destiny through a 3rd party app like DIM or BrayTech, the webapp receives this error in response from the Destiny API: {"error":"server_error","error_description":"DestinyThrottledByGameServer"} If I get lucky and am able to sign in, I constantly receive these rate limit errors when I try to perform actions. If I try and move a weapon from one character to another in DIM, I will likely receive a rate limit error, and I can only get the API to respond properly by trying the same move three or four times. Even trying to load this help forum got me a rate limit error and I had to refresh several times to get it to load properly. This has been going on for weeks to some extent, but today it got bad enough to make most of the apps I use almost completely useless due to the errors. Oh, and the forum site just gave me an error of "There's a lot of requests coming into the game server right now" when I tried to submit this forum post.

 • One of the DIM devs asked over on the Github here about it. Every app is being impacted by throttling right now (including their own), they're "looking into it" but haven't said if it was caused by an intentional change or not. Timing wise it lined up with Marathon, it got worse around the 2/3rd roughly around the time they announced they were going to be doing stress testing on the 5th but likely started prepping Bungie.net for it earlier. Since the 6th then for me its lightened up on the Fonzie/500 internal server errors but they're still semi-common.
