I get that they have to revamp stuff here and there, but…
What about all of my favorite armors? The ones I spent countless hours painfully grinding for? Will armor sets currently in the game get updated to 3.0? Will they have set bonuses? Or will they just become obsolete?
Same with the weapons, with the exception of crafted ones. Will non crafted weapons be updated? Or will I have to throw them all away because they’re not a “tier 5” weapon? Can they be upgraded to tier 5? Can they be upgraded at all? Furthermore, what’s the point of getting good weapons from RotN if they won’t be top tier in a couple months?
So many questions…
I know some will be answered down the line, but I hate the idea that I’ll have to grind out all new armor and all new weapons (if that’s how it’s going to go down). ALL of my builds revolve around my main armor set and my weapons of choice. I am not resistant to change, but frustrated that all of my dedication and time getting these things just for them to become obsolete is a real possibility.
Also, how the hell is a Star Wars collab DLC an “essential” destiny story? Love Star Wars, but I’m playing destiny… not Star Wars.

Although it won’t answer all your questions about the Armor changes, here are a few clarifications from the Developer Insight - Next Generation Armor article posted October 1st:
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY OLD ARMOR? Old Legendary armor will be changed as little as possible, but because the change to stat mechanics and types are global changes, old armor pieces will have their stat types (but not their values) changed around. When possible, these changes will be to the most similar stat, but with some stats being fundamentally reworked this won’t always be possible. WHAT ABOUT EXOTIC ARMOR? Updating the Exotic armor pursuit is on our roadmap but won’t be part of the initial update that is focusing on Legendary armor. So, to make sure that Exotics and their build-defining perks remain a compelling option, we are working out a design that will allow players to update their Exotic armor to bring their stat bonuses in line with the changes to Legendary armor. The Exotic class items introduced in The Final Shape are a special case – even though Legendary class items will be gaining full random stats with this update, we don’t wish to add additional randomness to the Exotic class item chase. Instead, we will be providing a method for players to update their existing Exotic class items with additional stats of their choosing to bring them in line with the stat contribution of the new Legendary class items. More details on the longer-term plans for Exotic Armor coming as we nail them down!
(΄◉◞౪◟◉`)
