Got a returning player back to Destiny and....
We cannot finish the Final Shape campaign because no one plays Excision. Is it required to have all the aspects and fragments?

Getting people for excision should be fine, it's matchmade. The issue is legendary excision for ergo sum catalyst. You need to matchmake for that, and you can't run 12 people depending on your system because it makes the experience unplayable. But there are people who always run it and make the clear a walk in the park. They will be in the lfgs.

Uh i do it every week and find lobbies eventually. Albeit the search takes 10+ minutes

Depending on where you are playing from, as of this reply im east coast NA it's 3:45 AM, many players may not be playing. If you create a Fire teams finder you'll have a better chance at narrowing down players looking to complete it at this point and time. That's is how I do it if time frame is off peak hours, hope this helps you and your friend get it done faster.
