IronBanner Network Manipulation is CRAZY

[redacted] Any one else experiencing INSANE Network “Cheaters” recently in Iron Banner?! Cause what the absolute -blam!-… Teleporting Guardians, getting shot through walls and Shots not registering as they Run away at Light-speed when they drop below half health with constant 4.0-7.0Kds… The 3 top players on the enemy team were OBVIOUSLY PlayStation Players in a Fire team playing together all Lagging their ASSES off and curb stomping everyone cause we literally couldn’t kill them. (The chat was full of hate for the 3) The clip (if it allows you to watch) was one of the top 3 guys almost Insta-Killing me with a Hand-cannon from insane range and timing in the smallest angle. YES I was PRE-Firing the -blam!- out of that angle cause he kept teleporting back and forth out of it and knew it was my only shot of possibly winning. You can see me get hit markers when I’m literally shooting air 💀 All my games last night were AWFUL and we all know reporting them for Shitty network connection or Network Manipulation isn’t going to do Jack diddly Squat 🙄 I’m on a Series X with Gig speed Hardwired into my console so it’s hella not on my end…

  • Removed the links to prevent naming and shaming. This is not the location to report potential cheating, nor do we condone harassment, even if they're cheating. Bungie takes reports of suspected cheating very seriously. If you suspect someone is cheating, the best course of action is to use the in-game report tool and report the suspected player. Additionally, Bungie has also provided a report tool online which can be accessed with the following link: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Troubleshoot?oid=13967#contact Please be sure to read through all of Bungie’s reporting guidelines before issuing a report.

    Seriously, it's ridiculous. The best part? Not only could Bungie not care less, if we cuss them out, tell he devs who they are or leave the game, WE are the ones who get punished. No justice for legit gamers

  • You don't know how destiny networking works or how population affects connections. You can live in the virgin media headquarters plugged in to Richard bransons megabyte lines & if you match hector from Peru, the WiFi warrior who lives in a cave & plays on 0.0002mb chinese satellite signals YOU are going to see issue because that's how it works. You connect to every player in a lobby plus 2 bungie servers, so you have 13 seperate connections in a 6v6 game. Each will be different based on their connection & location. Then you've crossplay desync on top. Lower concurrent numbers means more widespread players means laggier 1v1s. It affects everyone, but some more than others. If you're in America you're probably getting the best of it, biggest population, if you're in the UK you're getting the worse of it, tiny island with oceans between players. If you're on PSN you're gonna be better off than on Xbox, there's 10 psn in every lobby so Xbox see 10 potential laggers, the 10 psn guys see 2 potential Xbox laggers. Just know, it affects everyone not just you, just more varied in how bad it is, & I suggest it it makes you this frustrated do like I did & refuse to touch it 👍 Watch battle nonsense destiny 2 on YouTube, there's 2 videos, he's a game network engineer & tests all games networking & netcode.

    • This is a mix of Crossplay, SBMM, Extra filters for matchmaking and low population. After they implemented crossplay in PvP this game has gone down hill. They should leave it on PvE and completely remove it from PvP since it doesn't work.

    • If they lag only when engaged with other players...and not before or after....you've got a dirty dirty lagswitcher. Record and fill out a report here on the site. I've handed out 16 bans like that.

      This is SBMM fixing you into games with people from half way across the world only because you have the same skill level. This is why cbmm will always be better. Hopefully more people realize this and start addressing real problems rather than half the crap they currently complain about.

    • Looks like he was using a 180 HC which I think has a slightly slower optimal TTK than Symmetry. Now, here’s where they differ. A 180 HC needs 2 heads and 2 bodies for optimal TTK and from the looks of it, he got 3 heads on you. Meanwhile, you got 2 or 3 crits on him. Furthermore, you did but start hitting each other at the same time, meaning the differential in TTKs with how small it was, is going to be negligible at best. On top of that, because you were pre firing, they likely knew your location, or had peaked previously and saw you camping up there, meaning all things considered, they probably knew where to aim before engaging, and as a result, could engage at roughly the same reactionary time you did. I haven’t seen anything to suggest network manipulation here.

    • You cant hold aim asst pre firing a peak shooter. Best to out maneuver them

      D2 = -30.0 (PVP needs that update) - 5/4/2025 4:18:45 AM

      all your links worked.. good vid can be slowed down to half speed I've been in similar situations.. (no real expert just giving you my opinions) --practically speaking you are set up in such a strong position, above, pre-firing... that no matter what buffs they've got goin on it shouldn't be possible to hit you twice.. just needs to be too much flinch even... but I don't know if thats the game/lag or cheating but it could be lucky --on the hits before.. thats just inconclusive could be anybody else or some object... --it also seems like the player knows what they are going into.. in terms of they knew they could handle the damage.. so they were prepped and sliding in --to nitpick.. you are stationary (this is almost always a no-no in D2) so the game's logic could say probability wise you are easier to hit and may help with some accuracy/magnetism algo.. you were definitely in a higher stronger position and that guy is being bombarded by Symmetry..but your guys stopped firing I think and it was only you vs him when he slid out which is lucky timing.. so gameplay-wise I dont see anything conclusive but nice vid that can be slowed down to half speed.. but lobby results wise that sucks - definitely get those games both ways where its lopsided My last game in IB last night.. felt like I couldn't move, guns no impact.. it felt like lag/network manipulation > it sucked.. I think it was associated with stacks and probably crossplay/network issues but as players how are we to know... it doesn't happen all the time but I do think if we can get a quality score on the connections going on and transparency on the lobby balance going in.. and then how the performance affected those player scores after... it would go a long way towards making us feel trust and fairness is going on.
