Increased prices across the board;
Xbox Series S (512GB) $299.99 ---> $379.99
Xbox Series S (1TB) $349.99 --> $439.99
Xbox Series X $499.99 ---> $599.99
Xbox Series X (Digital) $449.99 ---> $549.99
Xbox Controller $79.99 --> $89.99
First Party Games $69.99 --> $79.99
That's freaking nuts, the gaming industry is unbelievably bloated and due to pop and stunts like this are not helping.

Hope they are ready for more studios to start closing down then because if they weren't reaching they return investment goal at first they sure as heck not going to now, they still haven't realized that the more these games price start increasing the more picky and demanding we become about the games they're putting out. Like they said "price to match the market" well we will dictate what your games are in the market way more now soo be ready for some harder criticism.

Hobbies are becoming luxuries. Jacking up prices of games ensures that fewer people will be willing to preorder them. Right now you have people giving up their streaming subscriptions to check out blue-rays at libraries (or sailing the high seas, argh matey) It costs too much to go to the movies so fewer people go, and those who do go less often. Eating out is more expensive, same deal. Too expensive to go to Disneyland/Disney World so families opt to go to smaller regional amusement parks or just go camping. Our culture is shifting. Intelligent entrepreneurs will see that and find opportunity in it, perhaps providing more affordable options in the near future. Think about it… a Louis Vuitton purse used to be a status symbol. Now anyone seen with one looks like a fool.

I bought the series x when it came out for $499 in November 2020. In December of 2023 I got a second one for $349 from Best Buy. Insane that it’s now worth $599 for the same model.

It was only a matter of time I suppose.

As an Xbox one player, I should get the Xbox S shouldn’t I -
It's crazy what's happening to the industry.

Was gonna happen, everything is getting more expensive these days. You’d think hardware that has been out for years gets cheaper, not in 2025 however Sony will soon follow and pc parts are also getting there
-
Outside of new consoles and hardware obviously having higher prices than the previous generations they've kept it fairly consistent with games for a long time. A correction for longtime inflation was bound to happen and now they're getting a reaction because they're doing all at once.

Prices have been jacked up alot where I am.

Tarrifs and global economy still hasn't fully recovered from the pandemic gonna be bad for atleast ten more years.
-
It's not the gaming industry that's the problem, at least not entirely.

Tariffs.

Mhm. A few months ago a lot of people were recommending buying any electronics you need then, because tariffs were going to cause the prices to rise. That's actually why I upgraded to a Series X a few months back. At the time, the only game I actually wanted on an X was Wizard With a Gun (which is very good by the way), but I decided to buy the console early to avoid the inevitable price hike.
