We already know you can do it, just give us a taken shader bungie. This season when we’re in the shaping slab screen LITERALLY proves you can make it happen, so make it happen. It’s not like we’ve been asking for it since FOREVER.
Literally just give us a taken shader.

Perhaps I missed it….but where was it mentioned by Bungie or in-game that this was supposed to be a “taken shader”?
-
Good thing it's not supposed to be lol
-
Bungie has said they can't do it but they can if it's actual armour pieces and it makes sense. It would be a disservice to the taken look with a mismatched colour placement.
-
They didn't say it was 🤷 I agree it'd be cool if they did give us one though.
-
Yeah, I was excited for the shader then I saw it and all that excitement just left my body. Like, how hard would it have been to give us the Shaping slab: Resolve effect as a shader? I wouldn't even care if it was armor only and wouldn't work on weapons.
-
Is it supposed to be?

Them having a static animation on 1 screen where they don’t have to have it interact with anything is significantly different from having it be on a character model in the live world where it needs to interact and function. I’m not saying it’s impossible it’s just harder
-
I'd pay 500 silver for a proper taken shader, no halfway taken, real taken shader

Umbral rumble looks like a cheap 🫏 imitation of a taken shader. Back to the drawing board with that 💩.

Edited by damascus: 5/2/2025 6:20:57 AMPictured is an actual Taken enemy from Destiny 2. I was really excited to get the new Umbral shader, and while it looks cool for somethings (like the King’s Fall Ship), it’s definitely not what I expected. The closest I can come to the Taken look is the Umbral shader on the legs and Super black from the waist up. Boreal char sometimes has the look too. The problem is this combination doesn’t blend the blueish hue into the black, so it looks like there’s a hard line. I’m by no means any type of designer, but here are two ideas for a the Taken look that I truly believe could be implemented: 1. A permanent “tincture of queensfoil on the Reverie Dawn armor set”- look (aka Taken-look). It’d ideally be an armor ornament. (And that’s feasible considering it works with the Reverie as an ornament). It could also be offered as a newer set of armor (artifice option included) that’s cosmetically slightly updated (from the Reverie look) with softer features. This would be purpose built for the Taken look. (To those not familiar- if you pop a Tincture of Queensfoil in the Dreaming City, while wearing the Reverie Dawn armor - it looks 100% Taken. But deactivates when leaving the destination). And/Or: 2. Make a shader that would interact differently on the 5 separate types of armor pieces (head, chest, arms, legs and class item). Meaning, if you’re putting the shader on the head, the shader colors that item a certain way different than another item: Head - when applied, it turns the head black, with eyes glowing white/greenish Chest - have it black, with the lower stomach section fading to the white/green hue Arms- have the shoulders and arms black with the hands that white/green hue Legs- white/greenish hue Class item: Bond - black. Cloak - black until it meets the line near the stomach section and fade to white/green hue. Mark - white/green hue
