To start, I understand you gain bonus progress in Heresy activities, but I just did a GM nightfall which had about 10 Banes spawn. Of which I killed at least 6, but I gained only 3% progress.
Given banes only spawn in harder content, and only about 10-12 spawn per run, your in for a hefty grind. Even of the bonus progress is 2x, that's still at least 10 master runs of the nether or court. That's not even considering if you fail, or if it even counts teammate kills as progress for you.

This kind of challenge is not thought out by the dev team that came up with it, and it does not respect the player's time. The rng of encountering a bane during a nightfall, or expert nether, leaves way too much room to fail getting one to grace our screens. This basically forces the players to do the expert court of blades intro area where there is one guaranteed bane, and for the sake of time and effort, a player would be better off running that 50 times than trying to get the challenge done through playing the other events where banes may, or may not appear.
