This one is tough. I played both and I can say that for pvp, I enjoy marathon much more. However, for everything else pve and loot related, I like arc raiders more. Since that’s the case I would expect arc raisers to have more players. I don’t think marathon will be doa though like a lot of the Brian dead haters and content creators are saying. Marathon is a good game.

Maybe, maybe not. I know it being $40 isn’t gonna do it any favors either

It already is. The level of hype for Arc Raiders and the lack of it for Marathon speaks volumes.

Edited by Joulevette12: 5/3/2025 10:35:07 PMI'm sorry but Arc raiders won this big time lol It looks way more interesting then marathon I'm not surprised though Bungie was targeting a audience they never had in the first place and cutting corners by implement ideas and animations from Destiny2 and imma be honest man even after what they said about Marathon upcoming changes, I still think it's in serious trouble and that's if sony give them enough times to make those changes because it already feels like it's being rushed out. I feel sorry for the developers now because they are literally going to have to overwork themselves now after the backlash and arc raiders especially now after all that promoting they did for it.

Edit > I guess ARC Raiders removed free to play edit2 > one glaring thing too is the 3rd person (A) vs 1st person (M) play... and I think the 3rd person makes it feel casual.. adventure like.. while obviously 1st person is.. or should be more focused on engagements.. but I'm really shocked by the gunplay experience seen in Marathon vs Destiny2... feels further out/the scoping in general.. this may make it less exciting (an attempt to be more casual?) from a PVP perspective.. it would be interesting to see how a user typically sees a PVP encounter in Marathon vs D2 just to see that difference From what I've seen on youtube of the 2.. its clearly Arc Raiders. Besides that is has solo que... the world design, environment.. just graphically speaking seems crisper. (edit)...with that and the solo que its got such low barrier to entry.. and then it just looks and seems to play crispy. I find the enemies also kinda interesting.. the ball roll on the ground flame-thrower drone.. does it bring anything new to the table.. not sure so far... ...I'm not sure on the extraction genre but ..my mind is just kinda blown that no one makes these games PVE only as well as their other modes. Where you can meet up with others and maybe steal a kill but not kill each other.. or of course join-up/co-op.. its so obvious that more players would want that then PVP... and then this goes for them as well... why not then host a mode for a small map/arena PVP only as well (if you ar eproud of your gunplay experience.. a place to then test what you extracted)... then when you have your free to play/beta whatever you can see what people gravitate towards like.. if you have a winner on your hand. I just dont get it business-wise these studios are morons. Its not all about shoving these people together... funneling them to make sure they have people to play with.. you gotta make a fun gameplay loop.. the fun is the reason to choose to jump in and play..... You have the universe/world/engine created... that next level of making it for how people want to play is so F-much smaller.. I think gaming studios are run by morons sometimes. -
Haven't heard anything about it

I don't care either way.

Embark has really proved itself with The Finals, so I expect great things from Arc Raiders
