People don’t want to talk about marathon here but it’s the truth. And now with a new extraction game ARC Raiders doing so extremely well marathon is screwed (I think it was already screwed.
I know a lot of people here are hoping for a marathon to fail but if it does I think that means we’re screwed because it’s public knowledge now that bungie has blown through all the money they were given to make games. I can’t imagine how much they lost in the projects that were can which was all of them except for marathon.
Did they just made marathon and put all their other resources into Destiny 2 instead of trying to make four games at once it’d be fine but that’s not what they did and if it fails I think at that point Sony just pulls the plug.
If it does well it means more money for the company which means more resources for destiny but at this point I just don’t see how that’s possible.

Edited by Seiryoku: 5/1/2025 3:32:13 PMThey wanted to be a multi game dev but spread themselves too thin. Is that not on their leadership? Obviously, many of the people with negative sentiment wishing for Marathons failure are expressing their frustrations about Destiny. They feel Bungie didn't reinvest in the game enough to ever realize its potential, 10 years later. It should be clear to everyone if Marathon doesn't do well, that could be catastrophic for Bungie and by extension Destiny. With that said, it's not Destiny player's responsibility to try Marathon to sustain them. The fans invested in Destiny and it created a number of projects that won't see the light of day. I enjoy PvP but Marathon doesn't look terribly interesting in its current state.
If it does well it means more money for the company which means more resources for destiny but at this point I just don’t see how that’s possible.
I don’t think that’s how it would work. If Marathon does well it means more resources for Marathon and any other project(s). Bungie has wanted to move on from Destiny for a while. They’re not going to dedicate more resources to something that they want to get away from.

Marathon looks mediocre to maybe pretty decent but that won’t be enough with the level of competition. Even if it is a good game at launch it’s had a bad first impression of a lot of apathy so I doubt it will hit the player counts they want. Especially as a paid title.

Last night there was 38 people playing marathon in total. Feel bad for them honestly.

I'll manage to get by without 'Destiny' if it comes to that. Don't tell Bungie, but
I've been seeing other video games on the sly. 🤫
I’m just killing time until Nightreign, baby. Honestly, the Oblivion remaster has been taking most of my attention. We’ll see if Edge of Fate is worth tuning in for.
