Save FotL #9

I want to see this event really shine. I really believe this event CAN shine. It just needs a bit of love and care is all. When compared to the other 3 seasonal "holiday" events, it's one of the weakest in terms of gameplay to identity ratio. Solstice is the strongest, offering a strong identity with it's flavor, as well as having a completely unique setting for the activity that offers an unmatched level of verticality across the map. It also offers some of the (usually) best looking sets of armor that also drop at high stats! Dawning is the second strongest, having top tier flavor. It's all over the tower with the music and decorations and just a good sense of joy. It doesn't currently have a unique activity, but since you get the ingredients for the oven, everything you do becomes far more rewarding. It really lives up to that feeling of generosity. Guardian Games kinda sucks, I'll admit that. The flavor is fine, but I'm just not a fan of it. However, the ability to go into the strikes solo with massively boosted energy regen feels great! It can be quite a bit of fun since it shakes up the usual formula and offers decent rewards for participating. Unfortunately, Festival of the Lost feels like the weakest holiday. It's probably the strongest in terms of pure flavor, but from a gameplay/reward perspective, it feels lacking significantly. It all essentially revolves around doing the holiday activity, the Haunted Sectors, to get the unique loot. However, the activity is extremely monotonous and repetitive and offers nothing unique to gameplay. Once you've played it once, you've played it a million times. Only two or three of the weapons this year felt worthwhile. I feel if we could just get that activity fixed up and make all of the loot more interesting, it could become the best event. Whether or not FotL becomes the "best" event, I really want it to be better than it currently is. It needs to offer something unique like the other holidays. It needs some sort of offering to shake up gameplay to really stand out from the base game. Think of it like this: If you were to strip away all of the decorations and music, and leave just the unique gameplay aspects and weapons, FotL would be left with just a lame obstacle to climb through over and over for a tiny sprinkle of (mostly mediocre) loot each time.
