I’ve talked to friends and randoms, read Bnet and Reddir posts, and watched videos. Everyone seems to say something different. Here’s what I’ve come up with:
Any pve kill
Any high value target kill
300 precision kills in pve
Kills in strikes
Yellow bars in heroic activities
Mindfudge. How do I get the catalyst?

I got it as a random drop while I was patrolling. I think its just any PVE enemy

I got mine from Tess. She simply winked at me and said “ Don’t tell anyone”

its by killing enemies wherever they are, you can get it from any pve activity, for example i got mine on a raid from a yellow bar

I got mine so long ago that I don’t even remember from where. It makes an awesome gun FRIGGIN AWESOMER though! So keep looking!

I got mine on Titan while doing public events, dropped from a fallen.

I just went to the castellum on leviathan solo and killed cabal for like 30 minuets

IDK, I randomly got it running strikes a week or so after catalysts became available.

Its a random drop, ive killed at least 6000 enemies with the gun and nothing :(

It's any PvE kill, period.

I got it from enemies in a strike, my friend got it from random enemies on mars, just have to kill things. sadly, you're completely as the mercy of RnG.

Any kill in the PVE universe can drop it. I believe mine came from a redbar enemy either in the middle of a heroic strike or in the middle of a public event. In the first week of the DLC.

Yeah my son and my husband got it off random stuff on mars right away. Still won't drop for me and I have it equipped almost all the time. Rng is a curse....

Got mine killing ads in Leviathan (funnily enough the same run I got crimson). It just is a rare drop from any enemy.

5 RepliesCrimson, Borealis and Tractor Cannon Shotgun catalysts all dropped on Mars for me. Just dropped doing open world stuff from what I know. I didn't even know I had gotten the Crimson til the end of one gaming night on Mars.
