Does it really blow the first one out of the water? I was thinking about picking it up, but wanted to be sure.

Didn't play it but yes, you will love it especially if you get it from the psn store for cheap, think it's like 35 bucks off atm so grab it. Story mode isn't too long or short but fun, and pvp is a steep learning curve but I think it'll be awesome with practice. But ya dude go for it.
