I feel like Overwatch will fill that role for me nicely. 6v6 randoms. Especially if I can get a group of my friends together. Right now? Smash Bros works alright with friends, but if I'm alone, I'm usually going to pick up my Pokémon game or Animal Crossing. Training competitive teams just puts me to sleep nowadays.
