Obviously it's about soloing the maze. It's how it was done, you can glitch out of the darkness zone for the door to open. Also possible they patched it.

I know :) Me and my friend 2manned it back in the Dark below days and you need as you said a third to get the door to open. Big parts of this community dont know this basic VoG knowledge

VOG is by far my favourite raid in Destiny. Back in Dark Below I completely ignored Crota and just kept doing Vault
