their was no story in year one, they improved with this dlc but they should have made things scan able without being in story missions or put a actual lore directory in the game to look at the pieces of lore you have collected over time, many games do this at release and some that do this at release are free.

I'm pretty sure there was grimoire in year 1
You might as well look at it during the time you are complaining about it in the forums
the fact is that it was not IN THE GAME and is still NOT IN THE GAME a year later. :/
and remember free games online have lore in the game and paid for ones to sooo what is the excuse? is it the time? because they spent some time on stuff that the community did not want when they could have worked on putting lore in the game instead, is it the older consoles holding it back? because its been proven that we cant take that bull answer anymore because they said the same thnig about vault space but they gave it to us a year later.
It's the coding that's the problem. Yes everyone wanted it in year 1, but there were other roadblocks in the way like dlcs and bug fixes. All I am saying is instead of taking 5 minutes of whining on the forums, you can use that time to read it. Last gen may or may not holding it back. They said that it was holding back vault space because it couldn't have all the items on one page. Before you call me a next gen elitist, I have last gen and next gen and defend last gen.
your saying its okay to spend 60+ dollars on a game that is unfinished and has PROMISES that is will be fixed in the future when it has been a year and destiny's biggest problems are still their and i am sure will be their in year 3.
