You're obviously intolerant since
1. You don't think the LGBT rights movement is as important as the civil rights movement
2. You believe trans people are mentally ill which they aren't. Some are but it's often caused by bullying and harassment.
3. You think it's wrong to in your words, "glorify" trans people for coming out and getting the surgery. It's not and people celebrate these people because amid the social risks including harassment and even violence, they come out and are proud of who they are.
How are you not intolerant? How are you not closed minded?
1. It isn't the same. Not one bit. A black person couldn't get a white bakery shut down and out out of business. A black person couldn't have schools question whether or not they should be allowed to used the same washrooms as white people. A black person couldn't have gotten successful white people fired from their jobs for not using the 'correct' language. You're very ignorant of the horrors that the black population faced before, during and even after the civil rights nonevent. The LGBT community is handed things on a silver platter because T why're very effective at complaining and mobilizing ignorant people for their cause. Case and point: Twitter.
2. Look at the research done at co-morbidity of mental illnesses in different subsets of populations. Trans people have a significantly higher rate of co-morbidity. What that means is on average Trans people are more likely to suffer from mental illness than the regular population. I'm not saying all of them are but there is enough reason to believe that there is something on there that should be looked at and we shouldn't allow them to undergo these kinds of procedures willy nilly. These psych evaluation to undergo transition is a joke as most physicians, psychiatrists, and psychologists are afraid of losing their hard earned positions because the Trans people cried about them being ignorant on Twitter for having reasonable cause to prescribe counselling and therapy over transition or as Twitter folk like to call it, ignorance.
3. I don't care if you want to undergo transition or if you want to glorify transition. You go ahead. I won't glorify it because glorifying a person being chained to the pharmaceutical and cosmetic surgery industry for the rest of their life seems backwards, but hey if you want to glorify someone's servitude to those profit driven industries for the rest of their lives you go on ahead. I don't care if you do or if somebody is Trans. You're both human beings and I'll treat you with respect regardless of what I believe.
You seem to think I'm close minded. I wonder how many lectures you've gone to that look at the negatives of LGBT? Probably none since there boycotted out of existence before they can happen, very much like men's rights talks, that's mighty open minded of you. Go figure, I suppose if society is against it we don't have freedom of speech. I've been to talks by people undergoing transition and I've done a lot of research into it because I was curious about what undergoing transition is like. I've researched both sides of the argument and have chosen the side I'm on. I was very open minded to what the pro-Trans side has to say. I didn't lap it up because I'm not a sheep who blindly believes what I'm told. I was critical, I did my own research and I arrived at my own conclusions. From those conclusions I derived what I believe.
I wonder how willing you'd be to give an unbiased look at the other side, given your down votes and responses so far that answer seems like a resounding no. Please stop projecting your shortcomings onto me. You are the one who is closed minded, not me. You are the one who is bigoted, not me. You are the one who is intolerant, not me.
