IS MARA SOV DEAD?!?
Im really upset now. In the cutscene it showed Oryx kind of using radioactive waves to destroy all the awoken AND the Queens ship.
Does that mean she is dead?
In the grimoire it is stated that her brother landed on Mars and the Queen is reported as "missing".. Thoughts anyone?

1 ReplyI dont believe she is. Shes not stupid, she wouldnt back herself in a corner without a backup plan. Plus she's got powerful space magic and i also think Eris couldve teleported her out of there like she did with us in that one mission in crotas end

4 RepliesWhen Oryx invaded the System, Mara Sov met him in battle at Saturn's Rings. Her fleet challenged the Taken King in an effort to protect the Reef from further incursion. Her fleet was decisively defeated, and she was missing in action, but apparently Mara planned for this. The battle was simply a delaying action to aid the Guardians in defeating Oryx, as part of her secret alliance with Eris Morn. By keeping the Dreadnaught contained in the outer system, they bought Earth enough time to react and take the fight to Oryx. No body had been recovered after the battle, but signs that her ship had not been totally obliterated were recovered by Taken champions, which were later acquired and passed on to Petra. After a search through the Dreadnaught, there was still no sign of the Queen, but Petra continues to hope that she survived. Uldren, who survived the battle, also suspected that the Queen survived, as he could still sense her. -------------------------------------------------------- I suspect Queen Mara Sov's return will be the main focus of a future DLC or maybe even an integral part of Destiny 2.

2 RepliesA friend of mine suggested that the stranger could have somehow saved the queen by teleporting in and pulling the queen out at the last second. I think it's kind of a possibility, it's a bit far fetched though.

From what I caught from dialogue: Yes, Mara Sov is dead. When you're doing the quest line for Boolean Gemini, the Variks missions bring up that Petra is destroyed (emotionally) after the loss of her Queen. Petra also thanks you for taking her mind off of what has recently happened. I'm not 100% sure if she is dead, but that's just my theory.

No, aftermath teases Uldren has a kind of mental link with queen, and he can barely since what he assumes is her, plus I doubt she would launch a full frontal assault like that if she knew she could not win, it was a ruse to destroy most of the hive fleet and buy the vanguard time to mobilize. She sacrificed the awoken fleet to secure victory.

I don't think she's dead. That grimoire card you're talking about has some pretty big clues that she's still alive. Also, she seemed to know perfectly well what was going to happen (she didn't bring Petra, she easily accepts her 'death' etc). I think she might have even planned for the fleet to be destroyed.
