Pretty sure light level and level level are two different things.

Deej and Urk both said that you will start at "level" level 34 if your current light level is 34 and I have proof

No one is "currently a 34." All of our player levels are 20. You will start out at player level 20. If you already have level 34 gear, you'll be able to wear it and still be effective at current end game content. Think about it... How could they force you to be whatever level the gear you happen to be wearing when the patch goes live?

He asked if he would keep his level and DeeJ said "you're good to go." He never said you would keep your light level. In fact, he said light level will be separate from player level.
