It's the amount of damage over range. You'll do more damage to a target the closer you are. However, this doesn't usually apply to some weapons like sniper rifles, as they're meant for long range
-
Damage falloff is the amount of damage a bullet loses the further it travels. This will be an example (the stats are just a guess but used for illustration purposes): Up For Anything auto rifle. Range 20M Each bullet does 25 damage each hit up to 20m out. After 20m, the damage is reduced the further distance the bullet travels. So, say at 35M, rather than 25 damage, each bullet does 18 damage. These stats are nowhere accurate and used simply for example purposes. Damage falloff is the reduction in damage per bullet once it has passed it's base range.

If you have an auto rifle and shoot something nearby it can do 100 damage. If you shoot something faraway it does 50. Over a certain range the damage has a falloff meaning it's less effective at longer ranges
-
So are auto rifles back to what they use to be? sorry i dont understand weapon language ):
-
No, the range will be decreased even more but the base damage will be increased.
-
The longer the distance from the enemy the less damage you inflict
-
The farther the enemy is from the player the less damage each shot does.
