Everything about Halo 3 and Reach was scrutinized to oblivion. As a game designer, I can now understand why some of those features weren't liked.
For comparison, you stated that it took a long time for 343i to balance Halo 4's sandbox. In that same amount of time, Bungie only fixed Halo 3's melee system.
That's basically what you're saying, whether you mean to or not.
There was no "work-around" for Halo 3's broken melee system.
I'm off-topic on my own thread now, so this'll be my last reply. No hard feelings though. You like Halo, and that's all that matters.
