Should we be able to upgrade White/Green/Blue gear to Purple?

I don’t know about you guys but, I’ve acquired many blue quality pieces of gear that look far better than anything the venders or the raids have to offer. Yet, I can’t use it. I mean, I could use it but would you really want me on your crota hard mode raid with a blue scout rifle? Even though I could use them in the normal crucible, everywhere else I won’t be able to be competitive against players using light level 36 or 331 gear. So here’s my thought: Much like Necrochasm where it started as a white gun, upgraded to a purple and then finally a yellow exotic. I think that all blue (or green and white) gear should be able to be upgraded to a current purple. Maybe use those commendations that are collecting dust to do so, or something similar. Not only would this make the game more diverse but, it would reuse all of these awesome assets going to waste. Take for instances this Scout Rifle I just got from ROC. How bout the fact that it matches my speaker Titan Mark? A blue gun matches a purple class item… wtf. What kind of sick joke is that? I’m sure you guys have plenty of similar examples on your own characters. So, what do you think? Upgrade system for lesser quality gear? If I could make this 331 with Outlaw and Firefly (or Third Eye) I would sport this all the freakin’ time!
