Is buying Exotics from Xur "Earning" them?
If you voted yes, no, or kinda, comment below why or why not it is or is not "earning". After seeing so much controversy on this subject I want to see what some people have to say, you are all entitled to your opinions so have at it Guardians!!!

8 RepliesNothing is earned in this game it's all RNG. If they had some kind of solo quest that was very difficult and you were guaranteed that reward for the work and skill you put in then I would say you earned it.

1 ReplyThere is no earning or justice in this game. When I can beat each raid 20x with no vex or crux of crota- yet some some kid in crucible with a .20 kd gets a gjallerhorn. Please. 100% luck ,no skill- all the time

Earning means work. Coins require work. Finding is luck.

It's always the people who just got the weapon or armor, randomly through the nightfall or crucible, that feel like they are special and deserve that weapon or armor You do 1 nightfall get suros regime You do 2 nightfalls and get a total of 24 coins and buy suros regime Of course RNG feels great but it's random and you can't control it. You can't control what xur sells either but sometimes you have to do more work for the coins (and choosing what to buy and what not to buy), than getting an exotic randomly

Not earned. Pretty simple. You earned the coins sure but that's about it. The only thing I've ever bought from xur is armor and icebreaker. :|

Deej answered this eons ago. Yes Something to the effect of "Well, you earned the coins from Nightfall or Weekly or RNG. Therefore, what you buy is earned." As far as RNG, that's not earning. It's more like playing the lottery. A gamble. Winnings aren't earnings. They're winnings.

[u][b]Best Answer[/b][/u] Of course it is! You earned the strange coins by doing content that rewarded them. You then turned around and used those coins to buy an item from Xur. This is no different than real life. You go to work and earn money. You then turn around and use that money to buy stuff.

Coins are earned. Then spent on exotics, so yes. More so than getting a lucky random drop. But in all honesty, who cares? I would be equally happy to receive that exotic I've wanted via random drop or xur. The only difference it makes that I can see is its maybe a bit more exciting when you get a drop from a raid or strike or whatever.

If you go to work and earn money. Nobody gives you the things you buy, you earned them right? Same concept with strange coins. And before someone says, coins are too easy to get, some jobs are easier than others, and pay more, so yeah, Xur is earning.
